North Carolina group, active on the 'Beach Music' scene. Can't say I've ever found any more info on them than that and think this is their only recording - pretty rare too!

Just sold mine on ebay a few weeks ago, no one seemed to want it on here.

 The King Sound Interpreters, which featured Kai Haynes on bass, Curtis Price and Mike Lewis on guitars, and Ivor Sheff on keys.

to also correct an earlier post as they recorded 'you've got soul' also on talent of music. I prefer 'you've got soul' (but quite pleased ive got both) which has an interesting version of 'dancing in the streets' on the flip.

a well known dealer did have a copy of 'hi-note' for sale at £3500 a month or so back and its not on the site anymore !!!!!!!

And I noticed the B side has no writers credits

Now that's sorted can I go a little off thread but stay with the name theme

They surely are not connected but little about them

 

 

The group had their 45s pressed up by an 'old-time' studio / pressing plant outfit all the way across in Minneapolis .. Kay Bank

… that seems strange as they had all the Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Nth Carolina & Tennessee plants much closer to hand. It's not as if Kay Bank were soul specialists, they cut / pressed just about anything. Kay Bank had been set up way back in 1946 and the original owner sold out in 68 … mind you, it seems Kay Bank also had a pressing plant in Nth Carolina in the mid 60's, so maybe that's where the King Sound Interpreters singles were made.

So, if the King Sound Interpreters two singles were indeed made at Kay Banks Nth Carolina plant, the 2nd one must have been among the last records to be mastered & pressed there as that facility was closed at the end of 67 or very early in 68.  

Anyone know where their Nth Carolina plant was located ?

Leader and guitarist was Curtis Price, a brilliant basketball player at Charleston High School. They called him 'King Curtis' (obviously not the other guy who blows a sax), hence the name King Sound Interpreters. He wrote 'You've Got Soul' and is also credited on the group's version of 'Hi Note' but that's not the case on The Fantastics 1965 version!!

There's a few pieces about him on the net.
