A few improvements are underway with events

The first part of our 'local events - near me' feature is complete and under going 'live' testing

can be viewed and tested here

when logged in you will be able to select a custom range - which may be useful in crowded or sparse areas

the next stage will follow once this is screwed down, so after feedback, suggestions etc

That's really good, Mike. Very impressive.

Unfortunately no events were listed within a 50 mile radius. I changed that to 200 miles and seemingly the closest ones to me here in NL are in Norwich and Mablethorpe. 

Seriously though, it's a great feature.

50 miles is set as the current default range, which hopefully offers for most a workable range at first glance

maybe increase?

I would have thought 50 miles to be about right for most UK members as generally there are so many events.
