Manfromsoul45s
The 1977 Wee Album “You Can Fly on My Aeroplane” on Owl, has always been a holy grail in LP collecting with some stunning tracks contained within its grooves. None more so that “Try Me”, so when the 45 was discovered, it wasn’t long before it became a true modern soul anthem in clubs across the country and beyond. Norman Whiteside was the main man in the journey of this Ohio group and many years later when his music was re-discovered by Rob Sevier at Numero, additional tracks were added to the catalogue from the vaults and the rest as they say is history. Having owned both albums, it was a “No Brainer” for me to lay down “Try to Tell You How I Feel” & “We Could Get It Together” onto a Soul Direction 7”. LP’s and downloads are a great media for music, but there is still something special about a 7” 45rpm vinyl record. I had messaged Norman once we were close to pressing the record and like most things, they get lost in the world of spam folders, so another message prompted a response, and what a wonderful response it was. Norman was very happy with the result and the overall finished product and was happy that his music is still giving joy to soul fans around the globe. I sent him some copies of the release and he promptly sent me photos of him with the picture sleeve in hand. In his own words “Trying to Tell You Just How I Feel was my second favourite song on the album. Find Me, Love Me was my first favourite. I appreciate that people like you are keeping my music alive”. Norman has a CD of some of his more recent work and sent me a copy.. Hopefully things are moving forward with Numero on a second album project, and he deserves nothing less. A real gentleman whose kind words make it all worthwhile. Thank You Norman Whiteside and Wee. xxx Get you copy here and show the love. 2 1 Link to comment Social source share
