June 29Jun 29 thanks for letting us know Julian44 minutes ago, Julianb said:Just heard the sad news that Pete passed away earlier today.Pete was around in the early days of Lord Jims, Hernies, ( where he ran the coffee bar!) Normie Baths etc etcRIP Pete.the below is from his intro/bio on his profile here @Petedillon also many posts and 2 albums of photos from these timesRIP Petehttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/profile/10770-petedillon/A brief intro...I was involved in the setting up of the nighters at the Central. I could also be seen working the door or cloakroom..also doing the memberships. I also used to work the italian espresso machine in the coffee bar at Hernies All-Nighters in Leeds (my apologies to anyone whoever bought one there!!). This was a very short-lived club which opened just after the Wheel was closed. was very popular with the all-nighter crowd, only to be raided itself. The Wheel was my first all-nighter, apart from the local Leeds Spinning Disc ones, the L'Ambassador in Bradford, followed by the Metro in Wakefield, Hernies & the Central in Leeds, the Torch, Va-Va, Casino and so on. In the early 90's I opened a used vinyl shop in Pudsey in Leeds, which was great fun but no profit. So then turned to record fairs, this lasted around 3-4 years. Musically, I have many varied loves..Walter Jackson, Oscar Toney Jnr, Geater Davis ... Away from Soul music, I love Miles Davis(Bitches Brew era), Blue Note/Prestige Jazz, Jamaican r'n'b & ska . The best live acts Ive seen are Marvin Gaye in Bradford!!, Oscar Toney at the Torch, Al Green at the Hardrock in Manchester on same bill as Oscar Toney & Margie Joseph!!! also Herbie Hancock at Leeds Uni .. Favourite record.. The Coldest Days Of My Life-Walter Jackson..which took me 10 years to find on a 45 !!.Everyone said it wasn't rare, but only on the issue, not the promo..it was damn hard to find..  Promoting, along with Mike Eastwood , a monthly Saturday night Soul gig in Leeds. Featuring Soul without boundaries..no limits to what we will play, from Northern, Crossover & Modern to Funk, Ska, Mod Jazz, R&B etc.. ..come on down to the Cellar ...At Cellar 7 on Great George Street in Leeds..The first Saturday in every month..SEE THE GIG GUIDE FOR FULL DETAILS.one album linkhttps://www.soul-source.co.uk/gallery/album/4330-early-7039s-leeds-central-amp-stuff/
