You've Been Chinned

Hi,some words/phrases are unique to the soul scene,but seem in decline (ie; div,blocking etc),,so here goes.....

Chinned ~ to have info on a record brought into doubt,or even disproven.

Chin stirrer ~ to take part in a chin-off (3rd party),purely for mischief.

Chin-off ~ facts in dispute sorted once and for all. (eg: i was there during a chin-off between......)

Chin-ese ~ to talk in a less than factual way about a particular tune.(eg: yeah its worth blah,blah......)

Chin out ~ to ask someone to butt out during a serious conversation whislt they are talking Chin-ese.

btw,ought to mention this is a tribute to the term "CHINSTROKERS" , a personal fave of mine.

Chin-meister ~ the highest accolade in the World of Chin.Someone who offers advice/info of the highest order,always agreed by Chinspectors to be most reliable.

Chintz ~ flowery,superflous debate, possibly at the bar to attract the "ear" of a Chinmeister.

Chinable/chinabilty ~ a nice chat with a complete stranger,again possibly at the bar (or in the loos) eg:" That fella over there's chinable,likes his Mirwood/Mira etc".

WAT-CHINNED - the sensation felt when after listing a record on eBay and seeing the number of "watchers" climb to double figures, the item then ends with no bids and the number of watchers falls to the 2 who are waiting to see if you re-list the item cheaper.

Looks like it would work on this thread and on the funk forum? unsure.gif

Not heard of any of them but a vocabularly of popular (and formerly un-thought up) phrases was recently compiled on the funk board. Some classics there wicked.gif

preachin': To advocate, especially to urge acceptance of or compliance with e.g. termanololgies used must come from particular sources; rather than use ones that have been common amoung soulies for years whistling.gif i.e. 'normans' = those people that turn up to soul nights that are not into the scene/music - often not understanding the etiquete of 'no beer on the dancefloor'
