A bit off topic as I haven't got a jar of glue about who Irene and the Scotts are. Sorry Val.

But someone once asked me about a record was that I had played. I replied it was 'Drake and the Ensolids'. To which he replied 'I wonder who or what was an Ensolid'

there's an Irene Scott on Midas.

Maybe some connection,although vocally more mellow than the "Stuck on my baby" girl. .

was it who the contours sang good night too ? ....and why do bristol rovers fans sing it too her aswell ??..dont know as im not local

I don't know but, What a bloody fantastic records (BOTH SIDE ARE BRILLIANT) i bought it of Soul Bowl back in 1979 for £2:50 (wd).

I posted a scan of this a few years ago on SDF forum as it has Ray Monette etc as co-writer and he replied in detail but unfortunatley I cant find the info.....I am trying to contact Ray and if I hear from him either on SDF or otherwise will post the info

I responded to Mel on soulfuldetroit, but I think this record is connected to chicago (even though it is obviously produced and recorded in detroit). The scott brothers also have a smash 45 with the same detroit production, and it's definitely the chicago scott bros as it's their publishing. All the same names are on the irene and the scotts on smash. It may be related to Irene Scott, I'm not sure. I am going to try to find out soon about this, I will post if I get any info.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't Irene Scott, since vocally it's similar to her "You're No Good" on Midas, and the Scotts are very likely to be the Chicago Scott Brothers who also had a release on Smash together with Toddlin' Town. Zachron and USA.
