  1. Kenni Smith on Goldspot was it known on that imprint in '76 ? CC's copy as reviewed by Dave Godin in B&S was on G.A.R.
  2. I think thats CD only from a box set from a number of years ago.

  9. I have a copy of the Nomads on Ripete, its a basic re-recording of Have I Got a Right done for the beach music scene, I was told that its Chuck on lead vocals and was recorded to cash in on the northern & beach scenes when the original tapes could not be found. Chuck was in the Drifters in the late 70s Was Bell sounds a regular feature in B&S?
  10. I've a few with personal names and address stickers on, (step up from the usual felt tip name) having time on my hands now I'm retired I've looked them up on google maps
  11. https://dai.ly/xy2qyq Maybe a bit 'poppy' but I'm sure this was played back in the day?
  12. That Benny Troy is a bit scary, I suppose its down to the lack of 'grip' outside of the lable to tell wether boot or not? That or its got a B side by a different artist.
  13. During the brilliant 'meet the producers' last month in Liverpool Lamont Dozier stated he head hunted General Johnson possibly causing the break up of the Showmen, The foundations for Invictus were laid well before HDH left Motown.
  14. If you mean the alcohol based one, I use it quite a lot it dissolves grease and lifts the dirt from those 'car boot' finds its quite a kick to see the brown residue on the lint free cloth as for harming the vinyl/styrene I havn't noticed any side effects yet (touch wood)
  15. I bought my first copy from Soul Bowl in the mid 70s for two pounds it jumped in the middle passages but this was solved with a 2p coin on the headshell of my Garrard decks playing arm,(didn't understand then what a fickle material styrene was back then), picked another mint copy up about 3 years ago for £90 and this plays very well on my Technics deck, I won't be putting any 'pennies' on this one. Sits alongside those other 70s Femme Favourites, Margo Thunder, Jodi Mathis Loleatta Holloway Eloise Laws etc.
  16. Kirsty I'll take Tommie Young off your hands. regards John
  17. Very sad news The Crusaders bridged a gap between Jazz & Soul and influenced many Who will replace these Icons?
  18. great prices for Serena Johnson, Randy Brown,Eloise Laws etc. Maybe we should be reporting back on his results as is done with J Ms
  19. Same seller has Willie and the Mighty Magnificents at £180 at the moment
  20. Sorry my mistake,
  21. Stunned to hear that, Joe's auction results sparked some lively banter. RIP Joe my sincere condolences to family and friends
  22. the album version of You've Got to Crawl is slightly longer and a different mix well worth a listen. Lee Charles Get Your House in Order is the instrumental to it. The Silent Majority track to have is the Something New About You which appears on the rarer issues of Colours of my Love One Mans Leftovers is an old Wigan favourite from 100% proof a stormer
  23. Selectadisc used to advertise "new" northern releases I can recall K Gee by the Nightliters Scrub Board Trammps and LJ Reynolds all being termed as new northern releases, (they also promoted Spider Limmie and the Family Cooking as northern believe me it was not!!!)
  24. Most Blue Note albums from the 50s and early 60s are well worth framing Warhol did a couple and the monochrome prints of Art Blakey, Lee Morgan & Miles look great in frames some are faithfully reproduced in "The Cover Art of Blue Note"
