  10. I love Johnny Baker's vocal on Webster Lewis' "Give me some emotion". It's funny though I always think he sounds like Boz Scaggs, or the other way round, either way no bad thing. Jordi
  11. You're right Geoff, those kind of tunes would probably have a hard time on yer average Saturday night baggies and beertowels UK Northern scene, although certain people are pushing the boundaries already, but the thread header didn't mention the 'Northern' scene. A healthy scene which mixes up the eras and genres and has a trendy, good looking young crowd who know their tunes, played on top sound systems in cool surroundings is probably going to outlast the UK Northern scene. Jordi
  12. I used to love this back in the late 70's, but it's bloody long on Contempo, I wouldn't mind hearing it on Delite if it's shorter. Jordi
  13. Have a look at the photos (and playlists) on this link and you will see the future bright and clear and it's not in some working men's club with talc in yer beer and stalls selling Northern soul gonks. https://www.clubfunction.com/ Jordi

[quote VERY NICE WORDS THANKYOU,MY VIEW IS SIMPLE ,NOBODY INCLUDING THE NUMEROUS CLICKS OWN THIS SCENE ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC,MY VIEW FROM A COLLECTORS POINT OF VIEW IS SHARE THE MUSIC ,IVE COLLECTED SINCE 1979 AND HAVE ANICE COLLECTION,WHY NOT PASS THAT KNOWLEDGE ON,FOR EVERY BIG EGO THERE WILL BE ANOTHER 10 WILLING TO SHARE.THIS IS A GOOD THREAD BECAUSE THE INFIGHTING AND THE SCRAMBLE FOR PUNTERS TAKE THE EMPHASIS OFF THE MUSIC ,MY VIEW IS IT IS THE MUSIC FIRST AND FOREMOST AND I AM HAPPY TO SHARE WHAT I HAVE AMASSED,DONT CARE WHAT OTHERS THINK OF THAT TO BE HONEST! BAZ A
  16. It's actually the A side, and what a beautiful, tripped out, fuzzed up, sweet piece of Latin with the most gorgeous guitar this side of the Andes. I play this side more than 'Too Late' at home. Jordi
  17. The 45's hard to get hold of. I don't think you'd get a decent copy for less than £100. Jordi
  18. The Northern scene's desperation to play anything 'flavour of the month Philly'. I normally love Sam's selection of tunes but when I heard him play this (albeit a different version, but sounding virtually the same, and doubtless tons more money ), I could have dropped. Hopefully he's stopped playing it now, but it will no doubt be played at local do's around the country. It must be about time for Ace Spectrum to be revived. BAAAA!! BAAA!! BAAA!! I sometimes wonder why I bother going out. Jordi
  19. Bloody hell! When did this jump up past a £25 record. Glad I got mine for peanuts. Jordi

Think the thing is that records like the one you're asking about are classed as dirty words by probably most people on here. They represent all that is embarrassing about the old Northern soul scene, and they probably think you're winding them up by asking for it. It's a bit like saying you're into fine art and that you really want a series of pictures with dogs playing pool. Try doing a Google search. The fact that the music makes you smile gets your feet moving will make you welcome on here, but you will have to get used to some ribbing. Jordi
  21. Mark, You've got to keep hammering class tunes like this and G. smallwood. Jordi
  22. Also on Saborian and the Los LP. Great track, must surely be big on the dancefloors one day. Jordi
  23. Have you got a soundclip of this version Steve. I've got the red label version, how does it differ? Jordi
  24. There was a thread on this a good while back. I seem to remember the consensus of opinion was that it was probably the Jones' recorded by Glen Dorsey in the late 70's or 80's, but not put out till a fair bit later. Great record but dreadful sound quality. But it's the only way of having it. Jordi
  25. I haven't heard of this Chalky, although I have "I'll Never Say No" on DC, it contains the line 'He's an angel' (at least I think it does, it's a while since I played it), wonder if it's the same track, different title. BTW, if anyone wants to offer me a decent trade or a decent amount of cash, then mine is available. Jordi
