  1. These days I am probably more likely to stay to the end if the night finishes at 6 am, lightweight that I am. That doesn't mean to say I won't still be there at kick out though. I think Friday nighters suffer more due to the fact that a lot of people work on Saturdays now.
  2. Good call getting the postman to witness opening it
  3. Yep Lonely Days is fantastic
  4. I actually had a record cleaner that was similar to wood glue, honest. You spread it on, let it dry and then it lifted off in one sheet with all the dirt and grime with it. Didn't work very well.

  6. Haven't we done this thread a million times before? For the millionth time - Eddie Parker I'm gone
  7. Agree 100%. I am guilty of crying off early if it goes on until 8 but definitely inclined more to stay until the end if it finishes at 6.
  8. I have to say a lot of the time I am ready to head home around 5 or 6am. Nighters that go on until 8am are too much for me these days. 6am finish is just right.
  9. A night close to my heart starts at 8pm, has a 4am finish, a bar til 3am and £5 admission. We don't say we are a soulnight or a mini-nighter. I do agree with the point about not specifying an end time though. I automatically think it will be early rather than later.
  10. Can see your point Russ but it really doesn't bother me what people call their event, it's the music that matters. I think people say mini-nighter just to let people know that they finish later than a normal soulnight. My understanding is a 4am finish. I could be wrong but that's what I take it to be. Some of these mini-nighters offer the full 8 hours and that used to be what an allnighter gave you.

When have I ever said I hated oldies? They are all oldies ffs. I don't have the said record btw. You don't come on here anymore because you aren't promoting or DJing.
  13. Just kicked back in Think he'll play it again?
  14. Just been kicked off - serves me right for asking for Honey Bees
  15. I couldn't get on via the radio link - had to click the external player but that is jumping a lot. Is it just me?

Again, are you for real? What a complete and utter load of rubbish! It couldn't possibly be that it is a fantastic record. Far from me to speak for Karl but I know for a fact he would say the exact same thing, not to mention the fact that your post is toe curling to say the least!

Are you for real? Yes Karl may have played it a couple of times but it has been played for years by a whole host of DJs. For you to say that people didn't know it or that they want it just because he played it is to be fair an insult. Some of us have a mind of our own you know!
  18. Not that I would even if I could afford it!
  19. I don't think it is outside their comfort zone though Chalky more like what they are passionate about and love. Who in their right mind would buy records they don't love? I can't afford to buy the records I like let alone records I don't.
  20. I think an all genre set shouts of 'jack of all trades master of none' to me. I know I couldn't do it. I have and do play some 70s but that's about it. Like you say, perhaps this thread should be aimed at what promoters have the balance right?
  21. So are you saying that a good DJ should cover all genres even if they don't like every genre? I for one only play tunes that I love and could not play anything I don't just for the sake of DJing. That defeats the whole object to me. Surely that kind of DJing is for weddings and birthday parties and such and not the soul scene?
  22. Hi Jason Thought I would post the B side up for you. Great double sider! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bRBJnR1HI4
