Thought you'd have a bigger list than that Dave Never went to The Mecca more than 3 or 4 times, but we had a big advantage in that we had Sale Blue Rooms, where I'm pretty sure a lot of Mr.Levine's newer stuff got tried out before hitting Blackpool. But, like you say, turnover was FAST, new tunes almost every week. We was spoiled--- Tony

  6. That part has been mentioned, notably by Brian Walker in SWONS- I probably misquote but he says something along the lines of as the Jewish lads respected the sabbath and did not go out Fridays, Saturday allnighters at The Wheel was where the let their hair down (so to speak) AND were at the Cutting Edge of Fashion. ATB Tony
  7. Basically agree with that- viewing a sample of what's been played on the night helps to make up your mind whether it would be "your" sort of place or not. As for being threatened---- Worryingly, this not the first time this sort of thing has been mentioned in the last week or two. ATB Tony
  8. If you lived in Manchester at that time, most the shops (Ivors, Justins etc) were supplied by a firm called Arthur Gatenby just off Silk Street in Salford. If you had a girlfriend who worked there, , they could buy from the factory at no more than 2 quid a pair, so you had all the latest colours/designs before they hit the shops.... Tony
  9. Now, I'm good but I'm not that good Don't have it anymore, so, I can neither confirm nor deny. ATB Tony

Those of us of a certain vintage (old), will have been highly influenced by Motown Chartbusters, especially 3 and This is Soul........ then you go to a party, and somebody slips on This is Sue. Now that was a bit of an eyeopener to a 14 year old ragarse from Salford.......... Tony
