  1. Looking for a nice copy of: The Related Three "Why Should We Cry" (Creative) Thanks!
  2. I imagine it's just a typo either with the BMI registration or with the credits on the label - I don't know which one is correct though. I also think the line up of this group changed at least once before they released 1016 - it's clearly a female vocalist singing on "Don't Ever Leave Me". Also, it's worth noting that the scan you posted is the bootleg pressing. It's easily recognizable by the single rectangle around Dynamics - the original has two. There are also two label variations of the original 1011 pressing with different publishing credits.
  3. The 45-Sleeves website says that the Hitsville USA sleeves were used on all Motown subsidiaries from 1964 through 1967 - I'm assuming up until September 1967 when the first album cover sleeves appeared. Is this actually true? This seems to be the least common Motown company sleeve even though Motown was releasing far more than they did in the red and blue turntable sleeve era (1961-1963/4). Another curious thing is that Melody/Mel-O-Dy, one of the subsidiaries on the sleeve, had it's last release in 1965.
  4. Brad Hales might still have a couple, but from what I remember most were given away, which is how I got mine. They were all titles that neither of us recognized, and the one I have isn’t on DFTMC, so presumably unreleased. Unfortunately, I can’t recall the titles of any of the others.
  5. Great article. About 10 years ago a dozen or so 10” acetates came into Peoples Records in Detroit that were from the Jobete offices in New York. Unfortunately, all were unplayable...
  6. The same seller now has an acetate of the Magnetics "When I'm With My Baby" that has very similar handwriting to the Precisions: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LISTEN-THE-MAGNETICS-WHEN-IM-WITH-MY-BABY-UNIQUE-NORTHERN-SOUL-ACETATE/353338699595?hash=item5244a0af4b%3Ag%3AgoAAAOSwQaBf743N&LH_Auction=1
  7. Warning: it's not good. Clifford Binns - Again It's Christmas.mp3
  8. Just to add a little bit of information here, Lou Beatty was a part owner of Carrie for a brief time. He's listed as President of Carrie Records in a very brief article in Record World Magazine from 1965 that details the licensing of Edward Hamilton's "Call Me" and "I'm Gonna Love You" to Jameco Records in NY. The catalog numbers for this period also follow suit with the La Beat catalog numbering system (year/release). Carrie 6501 - Clifford Binns Carrie 6502 - Edward Hamilton Carrie 6503 - Lawrence Hill And Singers La Beat 6504 - Spider, Snake & Ell/Eee
  9. I’ve seen that one - it was auctioned a month or so ago by a different seller. I’m not sure how it went from being graded VG- to EX+ condition, but either way, I’m looking for one with clean labels. https://gripsweat.com/item/333766647584/clifford-binns-youve-got-to-help-me-carrie-45-northern-soul-1st-pressing-hear
  10. Looking for an EX or better copy of: Clifford Binns "You've Got To Help Me" Carrie (orange label original only) Thanks!
  11. Fun fact: Lou Beatty opened a bank after he got out of the music business. Here’s a clipping from a 1968 newspaper, the bank address is the same as the label headquarters on 14th Street.
  12. The Fred Bridges article on soulfuldetroit does say that Lou Beatty partnered with James Hendrix to start La Beat, but that James was a “low key figure” at La Beat. I would assume he was around for at least a little bit to receive that description from Fred. I’m not sure when James moved back to Nashville. https://soulfuldetroit.com/web12-fred-bridges/fred-bridges-text/06-fb-Lou-Beatty.htm
  13. Looking for a clean copy of: The Pen Etts - That’s No Way To Spend My Time (Becco) Thanks!
  14. I wasn’t aware the was a bootleg of this. The styrene demo that I have has M1274F-61984-B S 16A etched in the deadwax.
  15. Looking for an EX or better copy of: Wilson Pickett - Let Me Be Your Boy (Correct-Tone) Thanks!
  16. Bob Abrahamian did an interview with The Traits/Center Stage in 2005. The episode can be found here: https://sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html
  17. The Patrice Holloway acetate seems cheap? It’s not a good record, but worth a lot more than that on an actual issue.
  18. There’s been at least two in similar condition that have sold in the last year or so for £6,000, so I don’t think this price is very surprising - especially right now.
  19. Looking for a copy of: Joey King - Come Back Summertime (Check-Mate 1017) Thanks!
  20. Looking for a stock copy of: The Originals - Call On Your Six-Million Dollar Man (Soul 35121)
  21. Was this played on the radio then or just something you saw in a shop and bought?
  22. Do you mean The Desires who did “Black Girl” on Starville with the same cat. number?
