  3. OMG Andy How could I have ever forgotten the mercurial Frazer Dunn, one of Scotland's finest soulmen and last of the big time spenders I often joked about having to charge him airmail postage rates, but I bet he's starting to get worried now Dave

It's refreshing to see so many new and recent new releases getting a mention but how many of them are getting anywhere near the extensive airplay they deserve out on their respective scene's A top tip for 2014 might for more Dj's to be a bit braver and ignore the incessant diatribe against new releases and and anthing less than 100mph, could 2014 be the year when the soul gets put back into Northern ? Dave

Hi Mark His voice must be too black for some Dave
  18. Some of the above comments regarding advertisers may be unfounded as it's most certainly down to the lack or reduction of advertising that have probably influenced Jazz Fm's decision to down size. I was told recently by someone in broadcasting that the cost to a radio station for a license to broadcast via DAB radio was £60,000 a year. It's a real shame though with most of the local and larger independent radio stations now becoming syndicated (only needing to broadcast 10 hours of local radio a week) how restricted the stations playlists have become. I mean how many times in a day can you (or want to hear) Pickett's "Mustang Sally", what chance has any independent ladel or artist got to get the products heard. Although it does make it the job of the station recording their playlists for PRS easy.Dj's don't need any personal taste anymore all they have to do is present a show from a poole of tracks that put in front of them. Sad but true. Dave
