  1. Yeah, if you look at the other Duke thread you'll see I know about that one
  2. Duke Peacock Records: An Illustrated History With Discography by Galen Gart and Roy C. Ames (Paperback - Jun 1989) Has any one got a copy of this book they would like to sell me, or do they know of somewhere I can buy a copy

Hi Jock Yes I have seen the book, Lorraine (?) who used to be Brian Rae's partner showed me the book when it first came out, but I've never seen another, in the flesh so to speak, since. It's got a blue and purple cover with the old Duke logo on it. I've even tried contacting Galen Gart to see if he can obtain a copy for me. He hasn't got any left either. I've been searching for it now for about fifteen years, and as I said earlier was offered a copy at £140, which it looks like it was a bargain, it just seemed a lot then ! Mind you, if I'd got one and discovered I could sell it at $1899, I'd sell it like a shot I wonder if Amazon's system registers the fact that they have sold four or five copies of the other book within a 24 hour period, when I bet they don't normally sell that many a month

Thanks, but it wasn't me that was originally asking for info on Duke, and I've got the copy of 'In The Basement' as well, great read.

Ha ha, It's not the book I was thinking of. There was, about 20 years ago, a book specifically about Duke / Peacock Records which was quite pricey at the time. It was soon out of print, and I've never found a copy since (Well to be honest I was offered a copy at £140 ) Having said that, I haven't got this book either, so I've just bought a copy off Amazon This is the one I thought you were talking about Duke Peacock Records: An Illustrated History With Discography by Galen Gart and Roy C. Ames (Paperback - Jun 1989) Just found a copy on Amazon.com.....it's for sale at $1899.00

You don't want to sell the book do you Mike ? I'll pay a good price for it.
  8. New Wanderers - Let Me Render My Service
  9. Angela's has to be Detroit City Limits - Ninety Eight Cents Plus Tax
  10. I agree that if there are 100 copies, the price it's currently selling for would appear to be a bit high. But the reason people are still buying is because they want the record and are not prepared to take the risk of there only being 50 copies, and all sold before the price drops considerably, so they buy at above what should be the real market price. Therefore because market demand is still dictating the price, I'm afraid you have to conclude that the price being paid is the real market price.
  11. Never seen one, never met anyone that has one.
  12. The rarest one is the white label demo, which were never made available commercially. I was sent one by the label, but I've never seen another.

If you can explain to me where the Soul in that recording is, I'll accept I'm ignorant, otherwise it's you that is showing your own ignorance through your lack of manners.
  14. That has to be one of the worst pieces of journalism I have ever read. Absolutely terrible !
  15. From memory, recent press of an old tape by the label owner.

I agree, I was one of the 90 Sam Dees was virtually in the crowd singing. If I remember correctly, you were standing on a chair behind me videoing the show and I'd definitely be up for other live acts in a small venue
  17. Don't forget, if you are replying to this post, there was a handy cut out and keep template posted last week
  18. It was recorded in June 1994, and the interview was conducted by Bill Randle. The transcript of the interview is on my site. Mike Terry Interview
  19. 19. Real Humdinger - Various Artists Eh ?
  20. That works out at about £1280, which I think is cheap for what looks like an unplayed copy of The Brooks Brothers. John Manship lists it at £1800. It is a truly rare record if only for the fact that copies haven't turned up in big numbers at all over the last ten years. I paid £1200 for mine about six years ago and have only seen three or four come up for sale since.
  21. Well I've seen and heard you DJ, so it's not you
