So the ads that Kev created the music for didn't actually get shown, so your prevvious comment was totally misleading. That's probably why it's a little known fact. Here's another little known fact for you then. I redesigned Buckingham Palace, but the Queen didn't like my design (Wasn't keen on flock wallpaper, Duke Of Edinburgh said it reminded him "Of a bloody Indian Restaurant"). So it wasn't used. Consequently I don't credited myself as 'Designer of Buckingham Palace' because I DIDN'T DO IT !

Hi Baz, Ambush is definitely from Richmond, Virginia. The Soul Pushers is the only release I'm aware of. Dade was one of Henry Stone's first labels, based in Florida there were 63 releases between 1959 and 1967 Shagg was owned by, I think, Senator Jones. apart from The Barons, i can only find one other release which is Guitar Eay - Ypu're Gonna Wreck My Life / I'm Never Gonna Break His Rules Again - Shagg 711 Yew released possibly 14 records. The numbering sequence ran from 1000 to 1013, but I haven't got anywhere near a complete listing.

He did two, one at the Northampton weekender, and then another at Birchley Social Club Junction II. The Birchley show was unbelievable because he did two sets, almost two hours in total.

What a tragic loss. Funnily enough I first met Pedro nearly thirty years ago when he was in the army. His best mate was a guy called Ian 'Mouse' Jones who was from the same village as I was at the time. When they both got leave they would come back to the village for a few beers before going onto Wigan on the Saturday night. I lost touch with both Pedro and the Northern scene when I moved away for work during the Eighties. To my surprise when I ended up in the Midlands and started going to Northern do's again, Pedro was the first person I bumped into at one of Pep's do's at the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton. We stayed in touch ever since albeit on an irregular basis at Soul nights and allnighters. He even tried to kill our hamster by falling down the stairs at our house once, but that's another story, and a funny memory of him that I will treasure. I'd just like to add my sincere condolences to the family.

Hate to disagree with you there Tony, but the dog and trumpet logo appears in both RCA CDs, on the inside back page, as part of the RCA label scans (Or does this not count ?)

A bit of history first. PCRL was Birmingham's longest running Black pirate radio show. Mickey Nold worked for them as a DJ and presenter for over ten years. The Basement Soul show was the Northern Soul show that Mick did, and to add interest to the show 'The Consortium' were regular guests. Membership changed over the years, but from memory those involved were John Weston, Ted Massey, Dave Allen, Bill Randle, John Pugh, Chris Anderton, Brian Goucher, and possibly a couple of others (This was nearly fifteen years ago, so apologies if I've missed anyone !). Mick also did all sorts of other things connected with the scene for his show. I remember doing interviews with people at allnighters, Blackburn, Keele, and Bretby spring to mind. He also took over the whole station and ran allnighters on Saturday nights where we would all do an hour's spot and broadcast all eight hours through the night. I used to do a weekly what's on spot every week as well which believe it or not was recorded at home by me on a reel to reel tape recorder and then posted to Mick. He'd dub it onto minidisk and then post the tape back to me for the next week. I remember the clip on Youtube like it was yesterday, and I've still got the whole thing on cassette somewhere in the loft. Usually Mick would get us round in two's and we'd all record our bit for that month onto minidisc, he would then edit it all together so that it sounded like we were all in the studio together when the show was broadcast. Mick was really skilled at doing this, and it really did sound as though we were all there. For the 1992 Christmas show, which was actually broadcast Christmas morning, Mick decided to get as many of us together as he could and record the whole thing with us all there. So we turned up one evening earlier in December and started recording. As it was an evening, a few cans were consumed, and it just got rowdier and rowdier (I remember Brian Goucher and John Weston being the main culprits). God knows what people thought when they were listening, all you could hear was beer cans being opened and people burping and laughing. Remember this went out between 9am and midday Christmas day. I know after the recording was finished Mick swore he would never try and get us all together and record a show with live mics on us all ever again. Happy days.

Don't think you will ever find one, I searched for years, never found one, never even saw one, or heard of anyone who had one. To do the label properly though you have to have all the different releases with different size print on the labels, ie the same record but with a slightly different typeface used on the label.....yes I was sad enough to do that as well !
