  5. I agree with Chalky on that. The only way to discover which copy you have in your hand is to actually play it.
  6. As a previous winner of the DJ Dancing competition at Cleethorpes (and you can examine the cup, my name is inscribed there) you'll understand why I don't dance more often. In fact I have been known to dance on the Sunday night at Cleethorpes, admittedly in one direction because I was drunk and couldn't work out how to go back the other way if you know what I mean.

One copy went on Ebay for £910
  8. Sounds interesting, any chance of a few more details ?
  9. That was A & R Booksearch, but they haven't got any copies left, I've just checked.
  10. Yeah I checked the spelling as well
  11. Probably the sound engineer at Parkway Records

We say that about all your records
  13. When Mick H ran the Union Club in Notts they introduced a no smoking policy. It meant that there ended up more people out on the balcony during the summer than there were in the room some nights, and when it got cold everyone congregated on the stairs. Eventually numbers started dropping because smokers stopped going (I was one). So Mick moved venued to The Brit, and I understand numbers went back up again. I must admit, having got out of the habit of going to Nottingham the first Friday, I've never got back into it and tend to go other places instead of the Brit. Thus the no smoking policy closed the Union as a venue, and lost The Brit punters.
  14. By any chance Wendy, are you a blonde ?
  15. If anyone has noticed this item on Ebay https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=4796228359 Please note, that although the listing of Soul City singles that is used has clearly been lifted from my website, the auction is nothing to do with me, so don't bother emailing me.
  16. The thread regarding laptops being used at Northern nights was mostly done in jest But.....this morning as we sat on the services having a coffee after the Stoke niter you should have seen what was going on All the mobile phone techies were trading tunes by bluetooth Honest. You know who you are !

Bill Bush. It's a Jazz record for God's sake
  18. The thing is Russ, not many DJs can actually play 'across the board' successfully, and by that I mean getting the right records in the right order irregardless of genre or when it was recorded. I'll make you blush now, and say that you are one of the few who I rate at doing this, but I've gone into print saying that before anyway. The problem comes when the DJ plays tracks that don't 'fit' together, and the set is just disjointed and a bit of a mess. What does make me smile though is when a venue has two rooms, Northern & Modern, and then book a DJ for the Northern room who then proceeds to play Modern, and I'm told that I have to accept this. Can you imagine the outcry in the Modern room if a Sixties only DJ did an hour in there
  19. The label is Hanna Barbara Records, remember all the cartoons by the company, well they also did records. Only ever seen one other release on the label though.
  20. I'm told Pat Bradey had no trouble selling one at £200
  21. What are you guys offering as trades ? I've got a 'Good Good Feeling' which I'm prepared to let go for the right trade. PM me if you want to keep it off the forum
  22. There were 500 pressed, and no they don't all jump.
  23. They emailed me about this, so I asked for a soundbite. They said not possible, so I said no thanks. I'm still intrigued as to what it sounds like though
  24. Thanks for all those who took the time to comment, both on the forum, and off. Based on the latest email from Mr Bivins, I'm going to put 'the group who cannot be named' (Oh hang on, I can name them now) The Manhattans discog back on the site: Mr. Rimmer, Hello again. Let me first say that I understand your angst over this matter and it is well deserved. Also, let me reassure you that it was never the intent of myself or The Manhattans organization to cause any distress or imply to threaten legal action against you in any way. Although I did not personally authorize the content or the release of that email to you, due to the fact that it was done by someone under my employ as a representative, I must accept responsibility. I deeply apologize and hope that you can continue your proven support for The Manhattans. I want to also let you know that you don't need any type of permission from my attorney to use The Manhattans name on your site, nor will there be any further harrassment or threats to you for continuing to do so. On that you have my complete assurance. We would very much appreciate the re-instatement of The Manhattans on your website and put this unfortunate incident behind us. I also want to truly apologize for not only the content of the original email, but for the tone as well. When I read it for myself, I perceived it as rather confrontative and somewhat arrogant, and not to mention threatening. Please accept our apology for that as well. I have taken steps to guarantee nothing like that will ever happen again. I invite you to visit our website and read our Group History. I believe you will find a wealth of discographic hitsory which you may find useful. Please feel free to use whatever information you like to incorporate onto your site. I have also had your site added to our Favorite Links page. www.themanhattans.net Again, I sincerely apologize for any problems this has caused and if there is anything you need, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank You Sincerely Edward "Sonny" Bivins The Manhattans I think I won that one, don't you
  25. That's precisely the situation. I've now had a grovelling apology, and the email was blamed on 'an ambitious young assistant'. Perhaps he read what I put on the SKM site >>>>>Here<<<<< Click on the link as well I've not yet replied to the email, but will do in due course, and eventually the discography of 'the group who cannot be named' will re-appear He's even gone as far as offering a link from 'the group who cannot be named's' official website to the discography because it was better, and a lot more detailed than the one he had. I'm also going to insist that his attorney sends me written permission by snail mail, and I hope he gets charged a fortune for it. What a
