I agree with the sentiments. I have a copy already, but was just interested to see if it managed to make anymore than a set sale copy would've done. Although with no response with regards the auction, beginning to wonder if it was pulled?

I was surprised to see a copy of The Precisions - Such Misery - Drew listed on John Manships auction sometime last week. Never thought it would be an auction sale. It was definitely listed before I attended the Cleethorpes weekender, however can't see any trace of it now. Does anyone know if it sold and if so how much for?

Here's my input to proceedings. I was on between 9:00pm to 10:15pm just after the resident DJ Ann Taylor and sandwiched between Charlie Rees & Paul Dunn's early Cleethorpes Caravan spot and their later turns. I don't really concern myself with "the scene" as such, as I've never considered myself as being part of it. As for the state of northern soul, there seems to be a vast number of events on every week, with a lot of the time what appears to be no consideration or cooperation between promoters/events when deciding where or when to host an event. The Internet has enabled everybody who likes the music to be able to either buy records/cds, discover new songs, find events, so much easier than years ago. With most people having a smart phone there is no longer the need to get flyers printed and handed out at every venue in a 100 mile radius to find out what's on. I believe for most punters, they choose the events that they enjoy either for the music or being with their friends. When they find the venue that combines the two for them, then they tend to stick to those places, without having to visit a different venue every week. People have got to realise it is no longer the underground scene it once was. In some cases it seems it's now an industry for some people and like all industries there's always someone somewhere willing to exploit people to make a profit.

Johnny Howard for me, although I heard the Artistics version long before Howard version. First heard it on a Kent LP, possibly Soul Agents alongside numerous other Brunswick releases.

Thanks for answering. I don't have much to say on the subject. As I stated I don't attend allnighters, my point was the speculative initial post. As for my views on nighters, I'm on the outside looking in so to speak. From looking on here and Facebook I can see news and reviews of allnighters, but as you know two people could attend an event and you'd get two opposing views. It's down to the individual whether they like it or not. With regards views on more current trends, I only have one question. Why the need to start a new allnighter in Bristol when there is already an (established) allnighter in Bristol?

I'm not an allnighter attendee, but I have some questions. 1. Which allnighter was it? 2. What was the attendance figure? 3. What date was it? 4. Were there other allnighters on the same night? 5. Did you attend? 6. Why start a topic on speculation rather than facts? I find topics like this bemusing, it's all spurious rumour mongering. Same as all those old topics about venues that may or may not be playing boots.

I don't' think so. Funnily enough been playing the Kent Cd with Johnny Copeland version which is different to Jackie Paines. I have a demo copy of the Jackie Paine release on Jetstream. In the Cd notes Ady states Johnny Copeland wrote the song, so assumes that would've been original version, but wasn't' released at the time. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than myself may have more information.

I managed to win one of the cheaper records and have just received it today. Arrived on a box with just one card stiffener, my record is fine, but wonder how well packed the more expensive ones are?

Without nearby hotels I don't' think it would work. I'm aware some people have campervans/caravans, but would think they're in a minority. Most other weekenders have either on site caravans or chalets, or are held in town centres/resorts with hotels nearby. Speaking for myself couldn't' imagine kipping in a tent ever again. Maybe 30/40 years ago. Sorry.
