  1. Thanks for the info guys Yes a brilliant record and I have yet to see an issue in the other formats - so presuming it was only released commercially from the West Coast. Presumably the distribution deal with Providence records would have been national? Otherwise there would have been no Detroit-area commercial release which would seem a bit strange. Cheers Richard

Hi Paul Just wondered if you managed to dig up any more info please? Cheers Richard
  3. Cheers Bri - yes, well spotted. The instrumental is also on the flip to the Steptones version of "Lonely One" on Diamond Jim 8794 entitled "Steppin' High" Thanks Chalky - makes sense. Do you know what the source is for this info please? Cheers Richard
  4. Cheers John - thanks - much appreciated Richard
  5. Agreed "I'm The One Who Loves You" is the side to list Cheers Richard
  6. Hi Bob I can do you a soundfile of this record if you like. Pretty sure I have your email address, but maybe you could just PM me it again just to be sure I have it up to date. Cheers Richard
  7. Cheaper than the legit UK Tamla Motown release too A bit sad though Richard
  8. Hi everyone The Tempos released 'Lonely One' on Riley's 8782 backed with the instrumental version entitled 'Lonely Night'. Some listings then show the instrumental being released again as the flip to 'Oh Play That Song'/'Lonely Night' on Riley's 8783. Does anyone have any info on the 8783 release please, label scans, or a soundfile of 'Oh Play That Song'? Thanks in advance. Cheers Richard
  9. Stafford is my favourite era (for the 60s stuff) looking forward to hearing these Chalky - nice one Cheers Richard
  10. I reckon it's a legit Jamaican release I have had a handful of these - white label and also on a darkish red label (darker then normal Ric-Tic) which will be the issue The last copy I had, the same as the above came from Jamaica Cheers Richard
  11. I stood on a copy of Art Wheeler (Dot) and cracked it cleanly - plays brilliantly though I warped a copy of Louis Curry - I'll Try Again Tomorrow (M-S) by washing it gently with a cloth that had been dipped in (too) warm soapy water I fu*ked up a copy of Dickie Wonder - Nobody Knows (Sound of Soul) by putting slight pressure on the tone arm at the beginning of the record to try and clear a slight 'pop' - it was 20 years ago and I still haven't got over it Cheers Richard
  12. Hi everyone Looking for a copy of the Gambrells - You Better Move (Carla) please M/M- condition preferred If you can help out please just send me a PM Thanks very much Cheers Richard
  13. That principle does apply in some other genres of collecting for sure - I guess if you are collecting the Rolling Stones or the Beatles where there were lots of records pressed, so finding something unusual adds to collectability. The same goes for stamp collectors who buy sheets of newly printed stamps and search for those few with defects, which have a higher value than face-value. I don't think this principle applies to rare soul though, because the records are already inherently rare. Pete - my advice would be to stick with your original price, do the sales pitch on the great condition and just declare the reversed labels. You can always discount later. Cheers Richard
  14. I'm pretty picky when it comes to condition. Speaking personally, with reversed labels the only situation where I think it might affect what I will pay is where most copies have reversed labels and then I might pay a bit more to get one with labels the right way round - an example would be the Celebrities - You Didn't Tell The Truth on Boss. Otherwise, no problems with it at all. Cheers Richard
  15. I wouldn't bother reducing it Pete. Don't think most people are too worried about reversed labels to be honest - especially if it is otherwise in top nick. Cheers Richard
  16. Hi Wrighty The link goes to my own eBay sales page not yours Richard
  17. Cheers Ady It will be the Kent 45 for me then - unless John wants to sell me the acetate Presumably the Finnish LP is 'Deep Shadows'? Cheers Richard
  18. Cheers Chalky - yes a quick search did the trick - thanks Richard
  19. Just wondering who has the original acetate(s) of Little Ann - Lean Lanky Daddy - what the whole story was on the find - what nick it/they are in etc etc etc. One of the best Detroit northern records ever. Is the current Kent 45 that's easily picked up the first legit release on vinyl - or was there an earlier version - 100 club or Kent anniversary 45 etc.? Cheers Richard
  20. Dimensions - Little Lotta Lou/He's A Lover - D-Town 1038 For some reason many D-Town discographies list 'Little Lotta Lou' as a track entitled 'The Dimensions'. Actually, that was just how it was originally listed in Rod Dearlove's - A Collector's Guide to Detroit and later in Chris Moores' - Soul Express Detroit special from the mid 1980s. Does this exist on issue? Here are both sides. Cheers Richard
  21. I don't understand what any of you are on about Richard
  22. Reminds me of Johnnie Vaughan's Northern Soul Patrol - not sure why Keep on keepin' on Richard
  23. Also available on Wheelsville #119 Cheers Richard
  24. They are yellow not orange Richard
  25. Bit of both Roger For some releases the sticker demo seems the only way to get a demo such as with the Adorables - Ooh Boy and Barbra Mercer - Hungry For Love on Golden World and Andre Williams - You Got It And I Want It on Ric-Tic. For others both demo formats are kicking around - such as J J Barnes - Please Let Me In, Edwin Starr - Agent OO-Soul, Detroit Emeralds - Show Time and Freddie Gorman - In A Bad Way on Ric-Tic. Cheers Richard
