  1. Eddie Holman - Hurt (unreleased acetate) Same as Victors - Hurt (Philips) Richard
  2. I reckon it's rarer than we sometimes think - especially in good condition. I would put this at £350 minimum - if I was selling one I would want at least £400, if not £500, for it. [ sorry - based on today's results £700 ] Highest price on Popsike is Richard Pack's copy from 2007 at USD $777. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=groove+city+hollidays&incldescr=&sortord=dprice&thumbs=&currsel= Richard
  3. This must be the top price paid ever for the Hollidays on Groove City £ 713.00 It is however a pretty rare record and a great double-sider - and 'I Lost You' is one of the best records ever to be recorded in Detroit. Richard
  4. If it's within Ebay rules he's probably entitled. He could have lots of stuff going on, there have been holidays, and if he has taken some time to actually decide, the time could have flown by. Did he get the record 6 weeks ago, or was that the sale date? Agree 6 weeks is a long time. Think ebay rules will be the decider. Richard
  5. Cool - nice one Dave - that is some top quality info Cheers Richard
  6. Is that in the actual booklet with the box set Mal? I found this from a google ... #7. The Majestees (Highland Park, MI) - 'Take Back All Those Things/ Let Her Go' (1966): The Majestees entered the studio in the summer of 1966, a shade greener than a 7-Up bottle. The high school variety show celebrities of Highland Park, Michigan recorded "Take Back All Those Things," the band's first original, and "Let Her Go," a sugary dream created by Brothers of Soul's Fred Bridges and Robert Eaton during their brief residency at Inkster, Michigan's Mutt concern. The record was, like every other Mutt-labeled 45, doomed upon release, receiving paltry airplay and an egregious typographical miscrediting: "Majjestee's". The Vietnam draft would tear The Majestees apart in 1968, and give band member Angelo Bond fodder for his co-penned hit "Bring the Boys Home" as rendered by Freda Payne in 1971. Cheers Richard
  7. There are two original releases of the Majjestees/Majestees. One has the band name with two 'J's. The other only one 'J'. I believe the correct group name is with one 'J' and that the original pressing run was a mistake with the two 'J's. On this basis the correct-spelling version was the second batch, but I could be wrong - and I don't think it affects value or anything. I have the version with two 'J's but I'm attaching a scan from a recent eBay sale with the single 'J'. Cheers Richard
  8. Hi Derek I remember seeing that for sale on eBay with the juke box strip. Think it was Carl P that sold it. If I recall correctly, it was described as an original but with a 2nd press different label design. Seems to suggest there was at least one run of legit 2nd presses, with the large 'O' on CO. and the staggered text. Then some bootlegs. Cheers Richard
  9. Yes - April fool

Cheers Dave - here's the quote from the Don Mancha article you mentioned: I did some songs for LeBaron Taylor too on one of his acts, Chalfontes. He named them after a street in Detroit he liked the sound of but no one could say it properly so we had to explain how to say it on the record label. I did a couple of tunes for him but he only credited me with one of them (Confessin’ my love for you)” Thanks Richard
  11. But can you name three? Richard

Cheers guys Is Chalfonte Street/Avenue in Detroit pronounced in the same way as what I call the 'French way' as the group name is shown on the label (Shell-Fon-Tays)? Cheers Richard

Anyone tell me anything about the Chalfontes group who recorded a couple of singles on Mercury please? Don't know much about them. Did they do anything else apart from these two Mercury 45s? Any group member info etc.? My favourite track is 'Confessin' My Love To You'. Cheers Richard
  14. From a Google, I think the release date of this box set was 30 October 2012 - so that might help people worried about their copy Cheers Richard

Nightmare to read that Dave mate
  17. Looks like it Seems there were some other interesting things in that box set like Walter & Admirations, Two Plus Two. Original Mutt is also on vinyl. Anyone got one of these re-issue 45s please who can comment in more detail on the distinguishing features, including dead wax markings? Cheers Richard
  18. Saw one on eBay recently too. Anyone know where these have come from and how you tell them from a legit copy? Cheers Richard
  19. Have seen this around a few times. Anyone know the background please? Looks just like the original. How can you tell the difference? https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/60s-Northern-USA-UK/25933/take-back-all-those-things-let-her-go/#product Cheers Richard
  20. See Rob's post #2 above for the band line-up Cheers Richard
  21. Isn't this one where people added the song titles in the dead wax to the bootleg to try and make it look more authentic? Richard
  22. That will go just lovely with your pink/reddish curtains Peter - according to Rod's theory of vinyl-themed interior decoration Richard

Bit out of date that I reckon Robb - there are special websites that do it all for you these days - you don't even have to be there in person - it's all automatic - brilliant! - you set it all up in advance and you just get snipped in the last few seconds - doesn't even cost you a thing on some sites - how good is that! Richard
  24. You can get one on Grapevine for less than £100 Cheers and good luck mate. Richard
