  1. I don't think it does sound 'timeless' at all - I think it sounds like the 60s and 70s - in fact I would say it is 'of its time', which is why it is so fabulous - when music talks of a time, a place, a set of circumstances, what was happening to people at the time it was made, it is often excellent Cheers Richard
  2. It is a true embarrassment of a record for the Northern scene - anyone who listens to, dances to, buys, promotes etc. this record should be ashamed of themselves Cheers Richard
  3. Pleasure - Stafford era sound - great record and lovely looking label Richard
  4. Cheers Richard

Don't think so mate - can't remember seeing one myself - but you never know as there are white DJ copies on other Tri-City recordings. Rare if it does exist. Cheers Richard
  8. Hi Paul I have that "Play A Fair Game" on an old tape somewhere. Is that the only copy of the acetate do you know, or are there others knocking about? Is it just the one track on it, or are there others? Cheers Richard
  9. Cheers Ricky - much appreciated Will have to play them both now to compare - another thing to add to the 'to do' list. Cheers Richard
  10. One sold on here at £220 a few weeks ago. Plus the last one on eBay (near mint condition) had 18 bids and went for: US $370.96 Approximately £231.46 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130809115609?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Cheers Richard
  11. Thanks Jock I have both 45s myself somewhere - but not got round to looking at them yet. Just wondered if anyone knew if they are actually different versions, and what the deal was with the Loadstone being released quite a bit later apparently. Cheers Richard

Surely the King Floyd version is a different song? Credits King Floyd as the writer rather than Deon Jackson. Cheers Richard

What on earth is this all about? Richard
  15. Because when you find it you stop looking? Cheers Richard
  16. I have always considered that the white DJ copy with the Detroit address as shown below is the demo version of the orange label issue (Wylie credit) shown above. The other white DJ is the demo version of the green label vinyl issue shown above. Cheers Richard
  17. Sharon Scott had some great tracks that remained unreleased until the RCA Rare Colectable & Soulful CDs. She only had one actual 45 release as far as I know. Fortunately it was the immense Northern double-sider "Could It be You/Id' Like To Know" on RCA Victor - pure Pied Piper supremacy Cheers Richard
  18. Hi everyone Lee Rogers recorded 'Love Bandit' on Soul Wheel and Loadstone. I have both somewhere, but would have to dig them out and I wondered if anyone could confirm whether the two versions are different. SoulfulKindaMusic says: Soul Wheel 101 - Love Bandit (Vocal) / Love Bandit (Instrumental) — 1970 Loadstone 3952 - Love Bandit (Vocal) / Love Bandit (Instrumental) — 1973 (The same recording as Soul Wheel 101 but with added horns) What is interesting here is the different versions and 3-year gap between the releases. Soul Wheel was a Detroit label but wasn't Loadstone West Coast? Cheers Richard
  19. Thanks Ady - great info - much appreciated Richard
  20. Don't know mate - anyone elaborate please? Those Earl English & Apaches 45s are top class. Anyone got any idea which Weller track it was please (the Jesse Potter soundfile is at the top of this thread)? Cheers Richard
