  1. Bought a UK issue for £10 from Record Collector when "blue eyed soul" didn't sell 10 years ago. Don't care, this track swings....... Good luck to the selller.
  2. Err,I'd rather not - but thanks for the offer...
  3. Although I've always loved this record, I think that this qualifies in my book: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360802313895?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  4. I'm pleased to hear that the dealers in the clear, as he's my oldest pal and well known on the East Midlands soul scene. How weird though, to design a boot in the style of a UK pushed out centre. Thanks for the clarification guys.
  5. Forgive me for asking, could you please explain what the issues are with this record? Is the dealer or buyer at fault, or both? I will admit that I wasn't aware of a UK issue (presumably a boot?) on Tommy Navarro, I sometimes find Soulsourcers a bit cryptic when it comes to comments. i.e. there is an assumption from those better versed in the scenes traditions that everyone else knows their stuff. Thanks Mick
  6. Could anyone tell me how and when, his "drop down auction" operates.
  7. This link on the background to the package may be of interest to some. Much to expensive for my pocket, especially as I'm unlikely to repeatedly listen to the deeper/sweet soul tracks of which there are many. A creditable effort though for those interested in more than northern: https://www.citypaper.net/article.php?Early-Philly-Soul-Label-To-Release-Its-Forgotten-Archives-11995
  8. Wouldn't want to discourage anyone Aaron, especialy those at the beginging of their journey, good luck to you. I wouldn't have learned anything myself today, without this post. Here's a reminder of my earlier follow up comment: "Not say that it possibly doesn't have merit in its own genre , each to his own. an all that..."

  10. Out of curiosity here it is, don't get it myself. Over 30 years ago, I said to friend whilst sitiing on the balcony at MR M's watching the skirts flair up, while they were dancin to Ann D'Andrea well, I ditch the soul scene when it became like a Rock n' Roll revival: Not to be confused with the UK actress of the same name. Sylvia Syms (December 2, 1917 - May 10, 1992) was an American jazz singer. She was born Sylvia Blagman in Brooklyn, New York, United States. As a child, she had polio. As a teenager, she went to jazz-oriented nightclubs on New York's 52nd Street, and received informal training from Billie Holiday. In 1941 she made her debut at Kelly's Stable More on Wikipedia
  11. Only Soulsource can be so interesting and informative about one of the commonest youth/club/mod records around. Some might say, better get a life (lol) Thanks for a great read guys!
  12. I met him at the Casino record bar a couple of times in the late 70's when he was dealing records and American Marvel/DC comics on the side. I think that he was at Uni doing a Sociology Degree, any idea what he's up to these days?
  13. Always sounded like Diana to me, though I wouldn't have a clue. Never the best quality recording, the sounds a bit up and down, but otherwise a good version IMOP:
  14. Is this a release on a rare number or am I missing something: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-HIT-PACK-Never-Say-No-To-Your-Baby-Rare-Northern-Soul-Funk-45-SOUL-35010-/120913452850?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c2700df32
  15. Was he wearing the Rupert bear scarf when he was falling out with you? I seem to recall he rather liked that scarf!
  16. Some years ago I bought a Dalton Boys (VIP) off Craig only to find that it was the white label boot (no matrix stamp), which I returned. Although he immediately offered to refund me, he said that it was one of a box that he had bought as originals from a renowned UK dealer, years previously I have always found Records By Mail Customer service first class though. I would say that one of his team got this wrong and if there's a complaint he'll put it right. Two great sides on this one though and it is a pretty convincing boot.
  17. Some reasonably priced copies here on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=523216&ev=mb
  18. As they say on QI, apparently "nobody knows!" If memory serves isn't there a Green Gator release with a different B/W to Funky Twist? Might be rarer but the alternative mix is not as punchy for me as the fabulous Green label version.: Top tune anyway though.
  19. Floor filler back then and now. I'm not into oldies but I simply can't understand why anyone would take issue with such a beautifully produced piece. A classic by any measure, in my book. Looks one happy child a definite record breaker, you got to laugh (or not) anyway. Thanks for posting.
  20. 30 quid's about right, unless you manage to get the rare funk item "Gettin Soul" on the same label. Popsike prices here: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=aalon+butler+&incldescr=&sortord=dprice&thumbs=&currsel= Gettin Soul,is bone funky:
  21. Also a successful tennis career,. Recorded in between games at the Aussie open no doubt! LoL! Nice laid back soul, new to me TFS!
  22. This is brilliant, which album is on? Ahh I see "It's finger lickin good" DRK 196273 Double LP Lovely stuff! Anything else any good on it?
  23. Bruce Cloud:Walk in my shoes:capital LP:
  24. Nowt wrong with LP's. The subject often covered on this forum, see here for example:
  25. Lovin' by the pound, also appeared on Kent's stunning "Do the Crossover" CD from 1993. Both this and "Let's Crossover Again" were fabulous sets, despite their cheesy names, containing rare and unreleased Stax/Volt group tracks. Bout time Adey got his finger out and "Crossed Over Again,Again" (please). Loads of stuff they could put out on them, including the wonderfully throbbing "Blues in the night". This tunes real deep down in your bones base groove, fab! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Do-Crossover-Various-Artists/dp/B0000013B7/?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1382785645&sr=1-1&keywords=do+the+crossover
