  1. That's good I wasn't certain
  2. Not me guv. I'm keeping it, it's really nice. Have you heard it?
  3. I saw the message about the PM so thought you must have grabbed it. An elusive sound! If you need the info on it I can post it up. Ady
  4. Ha, the 2009 copy on here looks like it went to you Steve; maybe you were hoping there was a Stomp Town 103?
  5. I didn't wear baggy trousers until Russ Taylor gave me a pair in 1980 and I wore them once in full "Northern" regalia to the 6TS at West Hampstead for a laugh. I went from 73-79ish; maybe being punk influenced in 77 helped me avoid the drafts up the trouser leg.
  6. I've got the Big Al & The Evolution, in fact I think I used to play it in the 80s, I just dug it out of the garage and wondered what it was worth and can't find any reference to it on the net or Manships, it must be rarer than I thought, will maybe give it another spin if it still sounds good. Ah just seen there was one auctioned in 2011 and one set saled on here in 2009; not very common though
  7. Well you've added some information that the Casino DIDN'T do the same as the rest of the country so that would make the difference. BUT I'm very pleased to say that you're wrong again and you mean forward as you would have an extra hour wait when they put them back. I hope you enjoy your German trip but I think that like me the Germans would admonish you for your inexact use of language. X
  8. Just this week I found another version with a better vocal take so I'll put that out next year.
  9. I've never seen anyone say it was legal. Boot.
  10. Agreed on the smartarse and to prove the point you've done it again; it'd be the same if they went forward
  11. Being a pedant; why? The clocks would have gone back for the bus company too LOL
  12. For the record, Sharon Scott's my favourite and Johnnie Taylor/Judy Clay the most underrated and best double sider.
  13. Or start another thread?
  14. We did it together on JFM then Dave did another one on his tod later. I doubt if it would have been the next week, more likely for the next volume.
  15. He always reckoned so and I don't know of the term existing afore him.
  16. He was ever-present on the scene for over 40 years, always pleasant and usually with a joke or a laugh; he'll be missed.
  17. Dave Godin who invented the term Deep Soul took a similar line though he stated that it was the quality/intensity of the performance rather than the timbre of the singer's voice that qualified a record as such. Hence Ruby Andrews 'Just Loving You' on one of his Deep Soul Treasures CD. He would have approved of the Japanese take on this, I'm sure.
  18. Wake up at the back! That wasn't on an anniversary single either.
  19. The two unissued Phillip & The Faithfuls are both top notch. Whatcha Gonna Do is like the Impressions and iF yOU lOVE hER LIKE THE rIGHTEOUS bROTHERS. On the Kent Goldwax Northern CD and no doubt You Tube
  20. Great poster but no idea I'm afraid. The woman reminds me a bit of Moms Mabley, maybe it's Martha Carter?
  21. Good scanning through. There was a Grapevine contract for the Superbs I Wanna Do It With You Baby but it never was finalised. I got a Jimmy Burns from Sailor Vernon a well known blues collector's record list for a quid. I didn't even know it was rare I just got it because I knew it was on Grapevine and fancied an original. Sailor Paul told me later that he had loads of calls all offering much more money but he told 'em I'd got it fair and square.
  22. Ady Croasdell posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
It's in the Superbs CD discog of the group. The really tough one is the 7" of Get Ready For Love which is meant to have their version of Neither One Of Us on the flip-not on the 12"
  23. Did it come out or just on Vick?
  24. I can tell you that there is a compilation in the pipeline but other projects have precedence so it is hopefully just a matter of time; though it may be some time as that pipeline is quite long.
