  2. HI ALL Q:- Does the record exist?..all I can say is this, over 15 years ago I had a different version of kept on dancing on a tape & it did sound like GP I thought it was on one of MICK SMITHS TAPES,, However Mick does not think it was his, so was it on a Dave Everson show tape? the sad thing is my kids taped over a dozen tapes? it is meant to be on a EP, as that seems not to be so, i need to look at LP s, several people also claim to have seen it on a euro EP?....FOR THE RECORD, I AM NOT HAVING A LAUGH LIKE I DID WITH THE NIGHT INST, DAVE L

  9. HI ALL,, Couple of bits , but thanks Mick tale of his cracked record "it happens", MICK SMITH Copy from his collection, took him ages to find, and if memory serves me it was his last major want, he did not have a demo until the mid 8ts in fact I got is issue, this will tell you how rare it is,at one time Mick had the lot, on UK I remember when he started to complete the PYE LABEL, if it was on a PYE he had to have it, where did he get his DEMOS from in 74? you never saw them, but he had them, BILLY HARNER INST purchased from a deaf dumb & blind boy who sold records of his trolley in the East End? it makes me laugh, Strange him giving that copy up,i lent him my JON ANDREWS ISSUE, 6 MONTHS LATE HE GAVE ME A MINT DEMO , ANYWAY HE IS A GOOD MENTOR TO HAVE ALSO A MATE, Talking of mates who no their records Pete's comments are always relevant his dedication and knowledge on UK SOUL WAS PU OUT AS A MAGAZINE, BEATIN RYTHEM, which is worth picking all copies, i think he did 13,14 issues,. If Mick H still has a DEMO& ROY G HAS ONE that 3 in WOLVES DAVE K

  12. HI ALL... BEWARE OF GANGSTERS?? Did you no? back in 1970, the JUDGE who was sitting at ST Albums Quarter Sessions (Crown Court) in the Trail case PORTAFIELD, LAWRANCE Mc KELYCOT V HULL in a RAZOR FIGHT,,,,I was called as a POLICE WITTNESS? but the TRAIL JUDGE did not like me for some reason, and remarked "I want you to get out of my court, I have met you before..you are a GANGSTER! Sir now remove yourself from this court", so my question to CHRIS is As a GANGSTER, I would not back away, after all whats the point of having a reputation, and then bottle out, go for it, call me if you need a personal GANGSTER INPUT* AS ALWAYS DAVE K *COSTS START AT £500
  13. HI ALL....The LARRY SANTOS is far rarer today compared to when it 1st got played, it's been many years ago that I owned a copy (still have my bootleg! copy) there is one reason for this, and is quite simple, the record was release in the UK on PHILIPS LABEL, always a good way to identify US RECORDS is by finding a UK Cover by some obscure artist, that the record company saw potential in, Our man this time was such a man who checked in and then checked out, with 2 recordings on UK PHILIPS, His cover version of LARRY SANTOS CLASSIC is rather good, and has become one of the very hard UK items that many collectors want, and pay lots of money for, how rare is rare, well PETE SMITH can answer that one, but it is much harder to get than the rare issue on PHILIPS, Not sure how many copies exist in Wolverhampton but can't be more than 2, that includes my copy, which is the best version of the 2? it has to be based on how popular LARRY SANTOS was must be his version, THE STRANGE WORLD OF NS? MY COPY DAVE K
  14. HU ALL EMI HAD A FEW TITLES CALLED BIG 16 & GECCA HAD "THE WORLD OF....." YOU REALLY HAVE TO GET THE HMV COPY "BIG 16" WITH BOTH YOU HAVE 32 MIND BLOWING CHICARGO SOUL, LIST TO BOTH LP'S & THEN PLAY A TOP MODERN SOUL SOUND, AND YOU WILL REALISE THAT 60T SOUL IS SOUL? DAVE K
  15. PETE IRISH I Think not, well not pure Irish no trace of a collone? apart from red hair, pure Irish woman have a large forehead, you can spot them easy once you no my tip? as a half Irish/Basque Romany, this input is 100% non racist & is factual DAVE
  16. HI ALL PETE I HOPE THEY DONT DO WET DREAM! IN SAYING THAT IT WAS WELL PLAYED THE UKE WAS MENTOISH ROCK STEADY & WELL TIMED, Q. DO YOU THINK THEY LIVE IN JAMAICA AS I CAN'T THINK OF HOW THEY GOT TO NO THIS CLASSIC? NICE ONE

  18. HI PETE WHAT A GREAT LIST OF JA MUSIC, MANY CLASSICS SOME RARE, I WILL CHECK THEM OUT AGAIN, AND WELL PRICED WHICH IS GOOD, AS ALWAYS DAVE K
  19. HI ALL As TED STATES THE DEMAND WAS HIGH. White label copies are very rare but in this case no where near the price that 1st $TATESIDE demo is worth, is it me that has seen more LONDON DEMOS than $TATESIDE RED& WHITE DEMOS? MICK SMITH has a G&W DEMO on his list I sold a copy for £5 at WIGAN DAVE
  20. HI ALL HI PETE My copy on FABULUS was a freebie from SANCTURY, However not a DEMO, It is rare £60 I would say but you should get more, standard copy sells £30 to £50 in LONDON, The sound quality is great, far better than the DOCTOR BIRD RELEASE? DAVE
  21. HI ALL IT WAS MADE IN 1998 RELEASED 1999 JOE BOY, DAVE

HI ALL Back in the 8ts I got a few stock copies from Mick Smith and that was never booted, so it's the one to get, the trouble with white label DEMOS, when booted they cause confusion, what I call the "ROSEMARY"? EFFECT, following that classic being booted the price for it halved over night! DAVE K
  24. HI ALL Trying to put a price on this record in 2013 is far from easy, PETES remark about £150 tops I think was about right 18 Months ago, however as I have started to collect US 45 AGAIN! MINT RIC-TIC 120 ARE RARE, & should sell way above £200, the price for some strange reason, is there must be a huge pile of them! after all it's RIC-TIC i DON'T NO THE STORY OF WHY RIC-TIC 120 IS SO RARE,,ANYONE? I'm alright with my DEMO from LIL DAVE WELDING, But that's my good fortune?? DAVE K
  25. HI ALL ...The pros & cons of this classic song, TIMI YURO cut is a superb version, and a HOLY GRAIL, TO FIND A COPY AT A OXFAM SHOP OR CAR BOOT ain't gonna happen, every body who knows very little will be aware of it? the record for me, comes from the tail end of must have UK 45s along with RAY MERREL, TONY MIDDLETON, PARADOX, SUE LYN, & THE RARE UK MGMs, value £750.... PAT LEWIS on the other hand was a JOE BOY DEMO given away with a CD, HOWEVER the positive side is this PAT LEWIS is a classic Detroit SOUL SINGER, she is very affay with the northern scene and had the comfort of playing TIMI YUROS Record, thus ensuring she got it right, well in my opinion she got 100% right and making it the best version, so that's what I think and I own them both, DAVE K
