Coasters Vinyl Boot?
HI ALL...TRUTH BE TOLD. IF YOU LIKE THE RECORD..AS WE ALL DO! THE INTRO ALONE BRINGS WALL TO WALL TARTON CARPET AND THE AMBIONCE OF BLACKPOOL MECCA (WHO'S TIE WAS IT, THAT APERED LIKE MAGIC AT THE DOOR TO GET IN??) I DIGRESS IN ROMANCE. IT'S BETTER TO HAVE THE VINYL "JAMACIAN PRESS", THAN THE RUBBISH SOUNDING BOOT. ME THINKS THERE WAS A ATCO DEMO THE OTHER WEEK ON RANKING JOHNNY BOYS AUCTION, I THINK, A BIT SPECIAL! HERE ANOUTHER OLD BOOTLEG! Sir DAVES UPPERCUT KNOCKOUT! AKA KIL

Coasters Vinyl Boot?
HI ALL - I AM SORRY TO SAY PETE! BUT I DISAGREE, AND IT'S JUST A DIFFERENT AND LATER PRESS. IT'S DEFIANTLY NOT A 1st ISSUE THATS A FACT, AS REGARDING THE BOOTLEG, AND I ALWAYS PICK A COPY UP, WHENEVER I SAW ONE YEARS AGO. IT'S NOTHING LIKE THE ONE IN THE SCAN, I HAVE A SIMILAR COPY AS THE ONE SHOWN. AND I HAVE HAD 2 OR 3 COPIES OF THE 1st RUN, WHICH I FIRST GOT IN 1973 FROM MICK SMITH AFTER ONE OF HIS US of A TRIPS, WHEN THE RECORD WAS STILL A TOP MECCA SOUND AND COVER UP? 1st PRESS HAS LARGE DECCA (TYPE) WRITING SAME AS LEE ROY, EARL GRANT, BIG LETTERS, THE COPY ABOVE WAS CIRCULATING AROUND 77/8 WAY AFTER THE BOOTLEG, THE PROBLEM IS IT DON'T LOOK TO GOOD AND AS SUCH PEOPLE ASSUME IT'S A COUNTERFEIT COPY! WHAT YOU HAVE TO ALSO CONSIDER BY 68/9 THE GROUP WERE GOING THROUGH THE SAME RUT AS THE DRIFTERS AND THEY ONLY KEPT GOING BECAUSE OF THERE UK TOURING, AND WERE VERY "IN" WITH THE SOUL CROWED IN 68/9 AFTER DOING GIGS LIKE THE NIGHT OWL & TWISTED WHEEL-CLUB, IF YOU HAD RECORDS LIKE "COME ON OVER TO MY PLACE" YOU HA A RARE RECORD IN 69! THE COASTERS FAILED TO CONNECT IN THE UK, JUST PUTTING OUT RE WORKINGS OF OLD HITS, SO THE 1st RUN WAS THE ONLY MAIN RUN AND HAD ALL THE HALLMARKS OF QUALITY CONTROL, AND AS WE NO THERE ARE A VERE'S SMALL AMOUNT OF 1st RUN 45s IN VINYL WITH LARGE LETTER WRITING, THIS LATER VI,NYL LACKS ALL THE QUALITY CONTROL AND WAS PROBABLY PRESSED UP FOR THE UK? WHO KNOWS, BUT THE BOOTLEG IS JUST THAT, THE LAST BOOTLEG I SOLD TO MALCOLM OF JOHN & MALCOLM SHOP HE HAD A BUYER WHO OFFED HIM 30 QUID FOR IT, I SAID OK ! DAVE KIL

Jayboy Records
HI ALL The story of the demise of PRESIDANT is very interesting, and I know the 3 main dealers who emptied the President Wearhouse, This is how I came across most of my collection of all the obscure stuff Like Sir Ted Ford, Ernie & Ed and such, I must of had most titles in my day, what I can say is that the JAY BOY 20 rack was empty before the dealers moved in? and the last box of Demos (25) went to a dealer on the South Coast , The issue of Jay Boy 22 Ray Merrell according to the President stock sheet was withdrawn and only 3 boxes were ever in the warehouse, this makes the demo far cheaper than the issue, as I do not have permission from the original 3 Dealers I am reluctant to tell the full story, I will try to rectify this as there is so much history behind this amazing label ALSO THERE ARE SOME STRANGE ANOMALIES SUCH AS JAY BOY 61 WITH DEMOS ON 3 & 4 PRONGED STAMPERS! WHY?? DAVE KIL

It's Pop But Now And Again It Sounds Good!?
:hatsoff2:Hi anouther great set of UK rare un's that have no longer in my latest UK collection not for any other reason than 15 years ago people were throwing money at these type of finds which in my case came from car boots and junking, the values of these type of tunes must be over 400% of what I sold them for, also i have noticed that todays prices are falling for the more rarer records but riseing for what are known to me as mor available records PETE S sold by auction the Patrice Holloway DEMO last week for a massive bargin, it's just my luck that i am not working, and i just could not give a record away a true rareaty, i no PETE does wheel and deal and i stopped 10 years ago. but I still cant work out apart from the obvious (demand) why a modern soul record can achieve more money than a genuine Rare 6ts sound! :ph34r:DAVE.... PS I CANT ATTACH ANY OF THE USEUAL FEATURS IN PARTICULAR SPELL CHECK ON SOULSOURCE CAN ANY BODY HELP?

Recomended Uk 45
:hatsoff2:Hi Pete...AVIN A GIGGLE! Not me I no that you have had some great records, and sell cheap, especialy Rare DEMOS that have elluded me? But to state you have seen loads on E-bay is a bit of "pork pie" how many is loads? or should it read Loads = How many? I have had 3 copys in all my junking for rare dustys days. also I am stateing that I recomend this recored as one of the best examples of MOD 2 sides are typical of the Flamingo, SIDE 2 is what a MOD would call The BLUE - BEAT, I still recomend it to collectors and as for value "I dont no!" and wont say as TED will be on my back, lets see what Johnny M gets for it! and I bet he would like loads or maybe not as it would not be RARE,,,TE HE TITTER TITTER, " On your Head Sunny Boy":ph34r:DAVE X

:hatsoff2:Hi All... If you dont no this record or even if you do, looking at Johnnny Manships Auction, there it is easy one of the Rare UK records and ellusive, well i would say near on impossible to buy? The reason for my post is not to promote Johnn y Boys list, but just to point out this jem that has all the hallmarks of LONDONS In Crowd in the 6ts especially the sound. The sound typifies the FLAMINGO, give it a listen as this is truely one of the best examples of a MOD Soul Record I can think of, Value wise I aint got a clue but Just as rare as top UK rare northern..A truely brilliant 2 sider:ph34r:DAVE

It's Pop But Now And Again It Sounds Good!?
Hi All...Just had a session playing records from 65/67 my last to years of school (thank F**K) as it was freedom from being in care homes?... to the point like it or not there was some excellent white R&B musician's in the 6ts..i don't want to open the Georgie Fame debate of 3 months ago, however if you have a copy of Manfredmans "oh no not my baby" to flip it and play "what am I doing wrong"...I was pleasantly surprised at how good it still sounds, to my ear holes.. nice Hammond also from Manfred, vocal Paul Jones & Mike (on the Brink)Vickers, what are you forgotten B side GEMS? HI ALL Thanks for the feed back, it seems to me that there are at least 4 variations off this record, that all seem to have identical labels and plastic/vinyl ith the same center dip? the difference is in the matrix marks, who can say for certain that it was Booted AND WE HAVE ASSUMED that the one that has the most bits in the matrix is the only legit pressing, why cant there be 2? and why would a bootlegger put a triangle on or take it off a rerun?? There is some history in the BAREFOOT IN IN CHINATOWN, I GOT IT FROM CONTEMPOS SHOP HANAWAY ST LONDON in 72 for 75p along with Mamie Galore? and way back then I put my name on many records (SORRY) at the time it was a top sound, there is a Cissy Huston Demo out there with my name on it, scribed with a hot needle, (SORRY AGAIN) I was Blocked at the time? Strong Love - By Spencer Davis Group
quote name='TONY ROUNCE' date='16 May 2010 - 06:15 AM' timestamp='1273986952' post='1332107'] Brian Peters told me that was played at the Scene as a new release - presumably Guy Stevens guided them towards it.
