  1. never seen an issue of patti williams , because i love him on sunflower , was it ever issued had 3 demos but no issue
  2. one of the dealers i know said that they often try their luck over pricing records to see who is interested and then knock a bit off the price to get a sale , they said if you start high then you can come down and the buyer thinks hes got a good deal but if you start at a lower price you cant haggle upwards.
  3. agree with the deep dark secret thing also add ace spectrum and bettye swann to the list seems everyone wants to be a dj and have the indemand records small priced records + lots of hype = people paying silly money
  4. usually with some dealers if it plays through ok it goes for book price if its mint then its usually above it agree about pete smith though , had 2 records from him via ebay couple of weeks ago
  5. i missed this as ive not been looking at lists as i was on a self imposed vinyl buying ban for a few weeks as i need to top up my bank balance as ive been spending too much lately just my luck really.
  6. no its by post no internet at all , so its a gamble as to when you get them then also its if you can get through on the phone , but he does always ring you back if you leave a message , a couple of lists back he had 23 messages at 8-40 and he only starts answering the phone at 8-30. i thought i had got lucky when i phoned last week for a copy of the magicians "keep your hands of my baby" on villa for £15 and i got through to john at 8-30 after a couple of rings only to be told that most other people had recieved the list the day before and most of the 45s had gone
  7. john powney is great for bargin prices , trouble is they have all gone usually by the time i get the post. doug banks £40 tempos countdown yellow label £20 or £40 cant remember but does it matter at these prices drake and ensolids on alteen £30ish goldmine cds 7-50 delivered kent cds 8-50 delivered cant grumble except for the postal service taking too long to deliver the lists he says even some dealers buy from him and then resell on but he doesnt like them doing this
  8. hi anyone help me get a copy of this on surfside records or can anyone email me an mp3 till i get sorted davidwapples@yahoo.co.uk many thanks dav
  9. one room paradise is probably the same titled song by raylettes on tangerine records i have seen a bootleg cd of this tape for sale at my local soul night , is it worth getting?
  10. i always thought it was got a bad back aswell lol
  11. it depends on whether you want the sounds on vinyl or just enjoy the music you could transfer all the tunes to mp3 and have them on an ipod and backed up on dvds so you have all the music still just not in the same format as before you would also get a nice sum for your collection , but in the end its got to be your decision. i have sold off quiet afew of my 45s that i have got on cd and mp3 and bought afew tracks that are not on cd on 45s and put the rest of the cash in the bank till i find some others that i want keep listening to the music and dont worry about the format
  12. marvel m6 gotta have love sherri , is this the same track as marvel love gotta have love / dont break the rules on new world , as this was richard searlings jd moore cover up from wigan if so which is the first listing or is one a west coast / east coast thing?
  13. is this another copy that has surfaced then as there was a thread on here saying that there was only 4 or so copies known in the country when joe dunlop was selling a copy that he had for £8000 ?
  14. fabulous moonlighters now sold , all the others still available
  15. does this apply as much to reggae / ska records pete as in record collector feature they said that it didnt seem to make that much difference in price but i still class it as damaging the record ?

  17. i have the motown rsg on dvd with dusty springfield although it is a copy
  18. i was just going by the price i was told by a dealer when i got this from someone in a trade , this was a coupl e of years ago but i didnt think it had increased that much
  19. just prooves that no one listens to my sets hows it going russ , ive played this out at every do ive djed at and you have been at most of them , got it on a green and white stateside demo that plays great and looks knackered. swapped it for a 7" copy of fats domino blueberry hill so cant really comment on the price hope you find a copy soon , not too hard to locate on us , british is abit harder id say around 20 for usa maybe 40 for uk demo 30 for issue
  20. he was telling me stuff was rare and tunes were classics and as he was a well known dj from a big soul event , i believed him . it wasnt until i tried to trade some stuff back to him and then my friends dad looked at what he had sold me that i realised he was just dumping his stuff that noone else wanted on me , telling me they were classics dancers etc some of the tunes were good but i paid well over the odds not knowing , so he got me for quiet abit of cash but he then lost all business
  21. seeing peoples feedback is useful , i found out that a dealer was buying stuff from the states for very little and ripping me off on the stuff he was selling to me as i was new to collecting , i only found his id by chance as we were both bidding on the same 45. i know that its a dealers job to make money but this was before price guides and before i found the forums but it made me think twice about using him and in the end i stopped private feedback can look dodgy but i have always got on ok with sellers , most use it as they sell and buy on the one account
  22. there is a four tops song called dont let him take your love from me which has the chorus "girl dont you do it " proabably not what you were looking for but thought id mention it just incase
  23. the other thing to remember is the website of vinyl carvers do not pay over 10 pounds for an obvious bootleg as you can get your own 45 made from them most tunes that were bootlegged are available on cds in great quality so the 45 you get made will sound better than some dodgy bootleg made from a copy of the 45 in the 70s theres no point in paying over the odds for a poor sounding copy as you can get a mint sounding one made cheaply , if its not the original it is still a copy doesnt matter when it was made 70s ,80s , yesterday etc if you are just collecting for yourself then its fine to get these done but please nobody turn this into a bootleg v original playing thread
  24. sorted now many thanks
  25. its on the prix label and i bought this off john powney a couple of months ago cost around 15 pounds
