Labels with your name on
Bought this up earllier in the SSCDT thread and wondered if anyone out there has a label with their name on as I do and one or two others do (and i dont mean written in pen by yourself!) Or if a label can refer to someone as a bit of fun or more sinister. Here were a couple of others. Karen C - Karen. Dave Abbott - Abbot. Soulsville - Jamie & Soul(s)ville

Your fave 60's POP record
Anything by The Righteous Brothers , big vocals and productions to match. Surely the best non black male duo ever anyway.

AMNESTY
Holly St. James - Thats not love - Pure pop pap , and unbearable when everyone claps on the quiet bit . Guaranteed dancefloor filler. This is not northern soul!

Soulful Detroit
Stumbled upon this the other day on a blues , jazz site. It is a 49 minute long programme by John Rhys who spent 7 years in Detroit working with major soul artists. It was obviously recorded a few years ago. He tells you of his recollections and plays some great music too it is an absolutley awsome programme and is well worth listening to. Click on this link. https://www.bluepower.com/show.jsp?id=30 It is easier to use the Mp3 stream as the Realplayer ones seem to struggle to connect.

heartbreaking time
Eddie Holman - Never gonna give up - Bell. If there is anything sung with more emotion than this I am yet to hear it.

Playing re-releases / re- issues at gigs?

I'm not the greatest buyer of super rare obscure 45s ( Not at the current asking prices anyway) but i have a good eye for a bargain and here are some of my suggestions I have that wont break the bank. Some of them are also fantastic double siders. Maxine Brown - The secret of living - Wand Al Green - Dont leave me - Hot line Al Kent - The way you've been acting lately - Ric Tic Freddie Gorman - Take me back - Ric Tic The Metros - Sweetest one - RCA Juanita Williams - Baby boy - Golden world Barbara Mercer - Hey - Golden World Barbara Mercer - Nobody loves me like you -Golden World Pat Lewis - I cant shake it loose - Golden World Mary Wells - I'm Learnin' - 20TH Century Fred Hughes - Dont let me down - Vee Jay. Jackie Ross - Selfish one - Chess

BARGIAN RECORD FINDS - WHAT WERE YOUR BEST?
Had a phone call a couple of years ago from someone wanting to sell their easy listening Lp collection they had just got down from their loft . Thiought it would be rubbish but had got nothing else to do so went to look anyway. When i got there there were 3 large piles of Lps around 50 in each pile , all almost unplayed original 60s soul and Motown Lps some rare. i was shaking thinking got to buy these whatever the price so popped the question "How much do you want for them " with the reply bieng " I was thinking around £25.00 for the lot" I nearly died , didnt haggle , paid cash. Went straight in my collection.

Midtempo CD Swap - members only
Managed to squeeze 31 tracks on the cd in the end.Apologies for any lack in quality as i have taken all my tracks off 45s and its my first ever attempt at this sort of thing but have tried it out in my car and it sounds fine. I have also got a few of the track listings in the wrong order but you will soon work it out. It has been a labour of love but worth it. Craig.

Rose Batiste - Hit And Run
Martha Reeves also did a version of Hit and run but is no where near as good as the Rose Batiste version. Personally I have allways preferred the B side I miss my baby but the Bari track instrumental by Doni Burdick is the one that allways gets me up dancing. Another classic that i prefer the b side to more nowadays is the b side to Dena Barnes If you ever walk out of my life. Used to hate Who am I but now love it and is so right for todays scene.

Whats your most Prized record?
On a purely memorable note Lp wise my favorite and probably the commonest Lp ever was the Diana Ross and the supremes greatest hits Lp with the 3 big red lips on. At the time anyway it was the greatest thing to shag all night to with it playing in the background . The nearest anything has come near to it on a love making theme is the Tammi Terrell "Irresistable" Lp .Sheer class.

Kolla. It seems a little daft sticking to 20 tracks when there is more space left on the end of the cd (well the ones i am using are 80 minute) so it wont hurt to put on a few extra ones will it? Craig.

Jason I have this 45 on a Burdette 455 white label PS 45 which i think i will include on my CD because it fits in the midtempo thing nicely, but was this released before or after the Jerden 45 and which is the rarer of the two. Craig.

"Strange Wordl Of Norther Soul" DVD
In my opinion from a musical point it was dreadful , like one of those re mastered cds . I remember recieving it through the post and really looked forward that night to watching it , put it on and was horrified , skipped through it bit by bit for the next few nights and then sold it. Not recommended.

Hello Kolla , can see you are struggling a little to get the required amount so count me in. I know i said no to begin with but my lad has agreed to help me with the technical stuff and i could do with some new cds to listen to in my car , sick of hearing the same ones. Promise to take all my 20 tracks off 45s as well. Craig.
