Prince George - Wrong Crowd
Rare it might be, but try selling one.

Johnny Gibso Trio
Are we talkin' about the Bobby Darin thing? Instrumental? If so surely it's a "tenbobber".

Bankhall Miners,burnley
Frank, You are indeed correct about the Miners Club. Pat lived just up the road from Townely Park. No midweek events there though.

Finishing Prices On Manships
Agreed. Not many 45s that are 'ungettable" nowadays. Just a case of how much you've got to spend. Wish I had a bit more...money that is, as well as vinyl!

I Wish I'd Kept It! Records You Had, But Then Allowed To Get Away
I sold it in two sections. Half went to another collector/dealer and half went in individual sales. I ended up with just over 13000UKP which paid for my latest acquisition on import - A brand new gleaming Harley Davidson FLSTC Big Twin Motorcycle! (Which I still have). There are a number of US collectors who are 'almost there' on the US side of things but with stuff like Patrice Holloway needed to complete there's only gonna be so many can do it. It would need the same genuinely rare 45s to be going round and round within the same collections. I've resigned myself to the fact that I can't do it. ah well, it's only a hobby eh?!

I Wish I'd Kept It! Records You Had, But Then Allowed To Get Away
Had a few "bits" through my hands over the years but I only ever regretted one sale: 1992 - The complete UK Motown catalogue (including the London, Fontana, Oriole, Stateside 45s and two copies, demo and beautiful green stock issue, of The Spinners on Columbia). NEARLY ALL on demos where applicable. AND in relevent company sleeves. No wol, sol, all with centres. Took me about 17 years. Couldn't do it nowadays. It'd be impossible to start again. You'd have to sell body parts. About 10 years ago in a fit of remorse, I set out to do the US catalogue. (Has anyone actually done that UK and US?) I gave up after about 6 years. Too overwhelming. Still...enjoyed putting it all together and have most of the UK items I had on US Demos now.

- New Soul Song
It's a great record that deserves to be heard. These people play real instruments, write their own music and are FANS that get out and about to rare soul gigs. They are as far removed from "Duffy and The Firelighting Video Dancers" as you could imagine. The music speaks for itself. That's the bottom line. And the music speaks volumes.- New Soul Song
If this is Al Supersonic and The Teenagers I'm still waiting for mine off 'Al'. Albert, you have an email address for him?- Toddmorden
He'll be well chuffed with that Mate! He's my younger brother! You're right though, I was the better and more youthful looking of us!- Toddmorden
Hi Tony, I just remembered that it used to be advisable to check the weather forecast in winter to ensure you could get up there! Doesn't seem like 30 years ago!! Jeeze!- Toddmorden
Bit hazy is right! Alldayers usually after a 'niter somewhere. Had some great laughs coming down that hill after a skinful of ale on Sunday nights! Can't remember the name of the place now but it was run by Ginger. Don't think there were too many but at least half a dozen around '78/9?. Used to sit outside with Pete Lawson and a few others 'putting the soul world" to rights. Happy days.- Bankhall Miners, burnley
Actually he probably means the Concorde. It was featured regularly in BE and B&S. (Hi Frank). Ran from 76 - 80 then handed it over as I left the town. Had some great nights there with Brady, Sam and Searling guesting every week and some great local colectors too like Guy, Dave Fergie, Mike Kemp, Dave Jolly, The Waterhouse Brothers and a whole lot of others. Used to do Sun, Wednesday and Friday nights!! Christ on a bike, we couldn't get enough back then!- C4 Tonight - 3 Min Wonder - feat Stevie Cato and Soul Revolution
I see Steve was reading a quality magazine at 1:29.- Sad Old Loser Lving In The Past
Flirtations are a girl group. Came out on Polydor. Not a clue as to which CD you'll find it on though.- Velvelettes
Thanks Matey. I never realised this was available on vinyl. Something new every day eh? Excellent.- Recent Buys
Hi Kev, No REO bits? Sleeves?- Velvelettes
Hi Brian, What? The actual recording or the fact that it's strange to hear such a familiar 45 with different words? I know Chris pulled lots of stuff from the vaults including a few that surprised a few of us. That version of The Sparkles Try Love etc. (Can't remember who it was now). Al Pollard has the acetate of it. Also he pulled a track by The Magnetics from the same source didn't he? (Or maybe he just covered that one up I forget). All great tracks though.- Velvelettes
Could anyone confirm that the Velvelettes - These Things Will Keep Me Loving You (with alternative lyrics) ever saw the light of day on a CD? Much obliged.- Help Needed
Bob, Bev spoke to Pat and they are definitely not the same outfit. Pat said they only recorded the one 45. They opened a few times for the Delfonics in Philly but were poorly represented when the 45 was released and subsequently gave up the music industry. Pat is about to retire from working in a school in North Carolina. Best, Dave PS. One more shout for a photo...ANYONE?- Can't We Talk It Over
Hi Andreas, Issue 3 - SOLD OUT! Could you send me a scan at 300dpi of Jimmy Bo Horne - I Just Can't Speak - Dade to hitsville2648@earthlink.net please? It's fpr the write up on K&Q. Regards, Dave- Querying The Price Of A Record
You're a Scholar and a Gent Sir. Got any others like that at the same price Mr Flynn?- Querying The Price Of A Record
Hi Roger, That's exactly it for long time collectors. If I ain't seen it in 30 odd years of collecting then I'm interested for sure! This doesn't mean they have to be expensive records at all. The last couple of additions have all been nice and cheap but how many have seen them around: Harold Andrews - Since I Talk To My Baby - HLS WHITE Demo 30 squidleys Al Greene - Don't Leave Me - WHITE Demo 10 squidleys Neither is common in my opinion. In fact the Al Greene is the first one I've seen. Both TOP NOTCH soulful dancers of the highest order, hard to find in that format and in MINT- nick. Now that's what I call record collecting! Overpriced records? Only if you're still chasing the same 300 records as most other people.- Help Needed
Hi Bob, It's Bev who is touch with her, but I'll pass on the query and get back to you. Meanwhile......anyone found a photo yet? - New Soul Song
