Anyone Know
Same Cliff Chambers who had a nice, but very oddball, record on Kent?

Mixed Emotions - Gold Of My Life - Emi Germany
It wouldn't surprise me if this Benelux release was the result of a deal struck between Elijah Cole and EMI at the yearly MIDEM festival. That is, if Cole ever attended any of the MIDEM festivals ofcourse... That's the thing which happened with for example that obscure Swamp Dogg produced Maurice McCormick 45 on Atomic Art. It's hard to find on its original US label, but was issued on both german and swedish major labels due to a leasing deal done at one of the MIDEM festivals in Cannes.

Value Please Ozz & Sperlings M.i.o.b. Demo
SUPERB gritty take on the Jefferson Airplane tune! Usually about £40-£50 on UK lists, but almost always sells cheaper on eBay. In fact there was a M- copy which ended yesterday without any bids and the opening bid was only $39.99 (£20-ish)...

Mixed Emotions - Gold Of My Life - Emi Germany
Highly unlikely in my opinion. Cole has probably just forgotten that he was paid for it, or wasn't satisfied with the deal he got. That's my thoughts on it at least.

Oslo Soul Experience
Looking good! Downloading right now. Some big faves of mine in there: Marty Lewis, Manujothi, Sun, Gold, Ben Wiggins etc. Could do with one copy each of Gold and Ben Wiggins by the way if anyone is selling...

Mixed Emotions - Gold Of My Life - Emi Germany
I just had a look at the latest additions to Manship's auction page and there's an art/picture sleeved copy of Mixed Emotions "Gold Of My Life" on EMI Germany... So it seems like there actually was some truth in Elijah Cole's ramblings regarding connections between EMI Europe and this tune. I personally had no idea about this german release up until a couple of minutes ago. Very intriguing that a record this obscure managed to get a major label release in Europe.

In The Charts
Considering how gritty the tune is, one of the most suprising tunes that charted on the Billboard pop list is Jimmy Robbins "I Can't Please You" on Jerhart. It made #131 on the POP chart and #21 on the r&b chart.

Price Check : Dream Team
This once was a £1000+ record. Then copies turned up and the price went to £100 almost over night. It has been selling for £75-£125 on eBay during the past 2-3 years. Manship has got it on his site right now for £150.

I don't know if I have posted this before, but here is his rare picture sleeved swedish(!) Big Top 7":

Zz & Co - Gettin Ready For The Getdown
How about turning the relevant information in this thread into an entry in the "Sharp End Of Vinyl" sub-forum? Has anyone got scans/photos of the different matrix markings?

Dianne Elliott When He Speaks
I quite like Lou Rawls version of this (entitled "When She Speaks").

Info Please - Matt & Robert On Soft Records
As far as I know, yes Robert in Matt & Robert is Robert Thomas who did "Salvation". Matt is Matt Brown who had other records on Soft as well.
-
Massive Notts Spin?
I'd think that $20 for a top-10 r&b/top-40 pop record is pretty OK.
-
Massive Notts Spin?
"It Must Be Love" was a top-10 "r&b" and top-40 "pop" hit on the Billboard charts when first released. Great tune.

Recent Manship Auctions - Ending Prices?
Well, to me it seems that way at least, I've seen far less of the Atlantic release than the Stax EP. But Manship was auctioning the Stax EP so you was not wrong in any way.
-
Recent Manship Auctions - Ending Prices?
It would've been interesting to know how much the french Atlantic 7" of "Blues In The Night" (with only one track per side, NOT the EP) would've fetched in a Manship auction... it's much rarer in my experience and has got louder sound.

Jackie Shane
As far as Jackie Shane goes, his much rarer "Stand Up Straight And Tall" on Modern is a big favourite of mine.

Brooks O'dell
Tony, have you been in contact with Swamp Dogg? Perhaps he can help you out in some way.

Charity Shop Finds
"Into Something (Can't Shake Loose)" is an absoluter MONSTER gritty 70s dancer in my opinion. It's not worth much though as far as its value goes (£3-ish).
