The original version is by Johnny Copeland himself. On Atlantic.
  2. Really looking forward to get my hands on this CD. Anyone got the 7" of "Evening Of Love" for sale by the way? PM me if so.
  3. I totally agree with you. A truly superb tune! The flipside "I'm Just A Man" is also great. And I agree with you on "Chapel Bells Are Calling" as well. Will "Evening Of Love" be on there?

So you're the one who got Hasse's copy? That guy has got quite a collection! Not to mention his reggae stuff!
  5. Thanks for the info, didn't know at all about this release. Will have to keep a lookout. By the way, what's the cat#? PRO 9?
  6. It looks like a Vee Jay distributed Atlantic 45, which seems weird. Haven't seen one myself earlier. This Atlantic catalogue number is from about the same time as Jimmy Hughes only Atlantic 45, and he otherwise released 45s on Fame during this time (who often were distributed by Atlantic around this time, 1966/1967), but some of his Fame material appeared on his first LP which was issued on Vee Jay... There might be a link in there somewhere, but I'm just thinking out loud...
  7. These auctions end in about 3-4 hours. Thanks for looking!

Nice to see that Sam Dees was a Glen Campbell/Jimmy Webb fan. That "Birmingham Sound" compilation which this is taken from sure is a must-have!
  9. It probably is, at least it certainly would make sense, but you never know. Craig Moerer has got six copies in stock right now at $1500 each. He sold another 2 or 3 copies a couple of days ago at $600 each. That's 8 or 9 copies turning up in one week and who knows, he might have more OR those up for sale now is all he's got. Time will tell.
  10. I don't know... but I can't see it...
  11. It's 1969-ish to 1972/1973-ish soul. At least for me it is. I.e. the crossover period when production techniques changed a whole lot, but hadn't gone "full circle" into the "proper" 70s sound. Cue: 5 pages of debate...
  12. I don't see the problem. The seller rips pages from old music magazines and sells them. The description states (my underlinings): This ORIGINAL hard-to-find Promo advertisement measures 10 x 13 and is in Excellent condition. This is not a reprint or reproduction, IT IS AN ORIGINAL. Unlike an art print or a concert poster, this advertisement was designed to be seen by music industry professionals - and was published usually only ONCE. A rare and distinctive piece to be matted and framed a great edition to your collection.
  13. The track called "Answer" which is only on the LP is essential as well. Bizarre sleeve design but a damn fine insert!
  14. Everyone hates the version by Thee Midniters, I guess? Is Danny Forest on Big Top a version of the same tune? Soundclip, anyone?
  15. Just in case anyone have missed it... I think the above is superb!

There are two tunes in that Lotusland clip. Don't know if the first one ("Guilty") is available in any other version, but the second one ("Invisible Wind") was also released in a in my opinion vastly superior and much rawer version by Arnie Love & The Loveletts, also on TAP.
  17. Everyone who has time to search for an item on eBay have time to make the most basic google search when they're in the process of placing a $100+ bid. I really, really do believe that.
  18. Believe me, I'm not taking the sellers "side" or the bootlegger for that matter... and the item description is VERY fuzzy despite the seller knowing that it's a bootleg, but... if someone is willing to spend $100+ on a record... shouldn't they do SOME research at all first? If you do a google search for either of the following lines... honey & the bees love addict honey & the bees dynamite exploded ...the first and second result respectively goes to a Honey & The Bees discography which states the correct flipsides for both "Love Addict" and "Dynamite Exploded". Once again, I'm not saying that it's fair to list an item like this seller did, I'm just highlighting that people don't do the research that I at least think they should do before spending serious money on 45s.
  19. CHECKER 5038 - Kindly Shepherds - Lend Me Your Hand / He'll Be Waiting For Me The entire Checker 5000 series is gospel. Some really great stuff amongst those releases!
  20. Wait a minute! It probably IS the same Convoy label, as the Sims Twins disc has got a Los Angeles address! OK, I'll post the clip below, one of my fave deep soul cuts.
  21. Isn't that Jimmy Preacher Robins? Same Jimmy Robins as "I Can't Please You" etc. Haven't heard the tune but have heard good things about it and remember having a discussion with Christian Hermansson about if it was the same Convoy label as The Sims Twins superb deepie "It's A Sad Thing". Seem to remember that it wasn't and the label designs were completely different. Do you have a sound clip?

Seeing that Newman is on styrene and Star Ville is on vinyl I think I'll stick with my Star Ville copy in any case. Star Ville has got a Chicago, IL address while Newman has got a New York address.
