It indeed is a brilliant label and most of the stuff they released is great. That is if you're into that New Orleans kinda groove. The label was run by Marshall Seahorn and Allen Toussaint. There were two label runs. The 450 series was Bell distributed and ran from 1965-1968. The 1000-series was going from the late 60s until the late 70s. £75-£100 is "reasonable" - if not slightly too much - for the Curly Moore 45. Fantastic tune though (and the flip is OK too).

Regarding Gordon Keith, indeed it's usually seen listed at £75-£100 these days... but the last couple of copies on eBay has struggled to reach £25-£35.

I've sold two w/demo copies. The first one at £280 (8 months ago) and the second one at £300 (4 months ago). Have never seen an issue copy of this 45. Actually, if it was issued, being on a major label, there must've been loads of copies pressed, but I guess they all can be located in gospel and rock'n'roll collections these days (the tune is written by Leiber/Stoller, sounds like a "Searchin'" cash-in and all that). By the way, the Voices Inc. LP on Columbia includes a different, less punchy (doesn't have the fuzz guitar) version of "Thinkin'", the rest of the album is gospel.

The Fred Bridges, Wilson Pickett and Luther Ingram tracks are all the same tune. Written by Fred Bridges and Harrison Smith. Wilson Pickett's version was recorded 1962 or 1963.

Well... I personally think his "Give a Man A Break" is much better than "Running Back". It was issued on both Uplook and Abbott, but the Uplook issue is the first release. Lillian Offitt's "Miss You So" on Excello has had some plays... it's from 1957...

Ridiculously overpriced indeed! :-o No record is worth that kind of money. I personally don't like the tune at all.

Oh yeah, by the way, his nickname was "Shagg" and he owned the label with the same name (responsible for Guitar Ray etc.). He also had the Hep'Me and loads other labels and recorded Charles Brimmer for Chelsea.

His "Call The Sheriff" on Whurley Burley is also a brill dancer IMO. There's lots of info about him (plus a photo) in the booklet to Grapevine's great "Northern Soul Of New Orleans" CD from 2003.

Absolutely fantastic tune! Such a screamer. Keep a look-out on eBay. A friend of mine has bought a bunch of copies (but given them away, sorry...) in the past couple of months for $3-$15 each. It was also issued on Athens. "Bill" is Billy Lee Riley, but who is "Will"?

Totally agree, "Easier To Love" is a fantastic tune! It can also be found on the flipside on the "We Are Family" 45.

Yes it's true. They backed Nolan/N.F. Porter on most of his recordings ("Keep On Keeping On", etc.). Wouldn't compare Little Feat to Grateful Dead though and definitely not hippie... They were much more of a rootsy The Band kinda group and released quite a bunch of nice records IMO.
