  1. I think you're mixing up two different pressings of this 45. If I read the sales blurb on his homepage right, the white labelled K-CITY 45 of this (which he is selling for $650!) features a slower version and was pressed in 2012 (it has been "sitting on the shelf for 34 years", 1978+34 = 2012). The black labelled PROMO copies were pressed in 1978. The promo that I've got is definitely not a 90's or 2010+ pressing. From the homepage: "I WANT TO SHARE MY LOVE WITH YOU This vinyl 45 was never released and only a few promo copies were pressed in 1978. This was the year the new Disco Scene became all the rage, so the K-City Records team decided not to release ”I Want To Share My Love With You.” The song has been sitting on the shelf for 34 years and now some of you lucky fans with your own copies have begun to sell those 45s, because of the music’s exclusivity. The buyer of the slower-tempo arrangement of “I Want To Share My Love With You” 45 vinyl record will receive a complimentary Bio with an autographed photo from the original artist "Mr. Eugene Smiley" of The Essence of Love. This Collector’s Item is in very good condition." https://www.kcityrecords.com/buy/rare_soul_music_collection_i_want_to_share_my_love_with_you/ Am I missing something here?
  2. All releases on the Itzy label are reissues produced for the Pittsburgh area "oldies" market. There are no original releases on Itzy label. Itzy was an oldies label and still exists in one form or another: https://www.4ddai.com/itzy/ ITZY might've had some kind of legal deal going with SWAN, I don't know, but these are not the original or "local" releases which is so often stated. Have a look at their early discography: ITZY 1 - BELLTONES Please Try To Understand Me originally released in 1963 on Olimpic. ITZY 2 - CASINOS the swim originally released in 1963 on Olimpic. ITZY 3 - JOHN HAMMOND i wish you would originally released in 1965 on Red Bird. ITZY 4 - EXECUTIONERS the guillotine originally released in 1965 on Sunburst. ITZY 5 - SAPPHIRES Who Do You Love originally released in 1963 on Swan. ITZY 6 - MICKEY LEE LANE hey sah lo ney originally released in 1965 on Swan. ITZY 7 - GABRIEL AND THE ANGELS that's life that's tough originally released in 1962 on Swan. ITZY 8 - ROCKIN' REBELS wild weekend originally released in 1962 on Swan. ITZY 9 - DOC STARKES apple cider originally released in 1958 on Swan. ITZY 10 - DICKY DOO AND THE DON'TS Nee Nee Na Na Na Na Nu Nu originally released in 1958 on Swan. ITZY 11 - BLUE ECHOES Tiger Talk originally released in 1963 on Bristol. ITZY 12 - ? ITZY 13 - SHOWMEN our love will grow originally released in 1965 on Swan.
  3. A legendary 45 by this group from Paducah, Kentucky that released three 45's and an EP. Definitely a very rare 45. It has got five entries on Popsike ranging from $209 to $622. Somewhere inbetween would be a realistic "value". A few more copies than the ones on Popsike have gone through eBay though.
  4. You have got a vinyl copy on your hands, it is not pressed on styrene and you can't easily peel off the label. The bootleg has got pretty decent clarity to the sound, but it plays at roughly 50% of the volume of what an original plays like.
  5. Post a picture of it and someone on here will let you know.
  6. I've never seen an original vinyl release of this 45 and highly doubt that one exist. The vinyl bootleg which is pictured above is however very convincing as far as the matrix details goes. If anyone has got this on an original vinyl 45, please A/B it with an original styrene press. As Pete hinted at, they should play at the exact same volume.
  7. Has got poor sound quality (mastered at very low volume) compared to the original styrene press though.
  8. FANTASTIC STUFF! Here's to the next 10 years!
  9. The one you've got is a counterfeit/repro (it's pressed on vinyl, not styrene).
  10. The ELF label that Leon Collins was released on is not the same label as the ELF label that released Clifford Curry, Bobbi Lynn, Dan Folger etc. The ELF label that released Hollywood Saxons etc. is yet another different label.
  11. I don't know if it's a boot or legitimate release. I just wanted to know if there was something I missed that explained it to be an official reissue.
  12. What makes you think that?
  13. It's now only 2 days to go on these auctions: https://www.ebay.com/sch/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking!
  14. Hello! I've listed a bunch of records on eBay. There are label/sleeve scans and soundclips to everything. Check them out at: https://www.ebay.com/sch/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking! Take care. /Sebastian
  15. "Lucky Man" was used on two of Tolbert's 45s: ROJAC 6400 - Tolbert - Lucky Man / Got To Be Free ROJAC 6401 - Tolbert - Lucky Man / I've Got It You've got #6400. The one going for big money is #6401 because of the in-demand side "I've Got It".
  16. If it's of any use, and as Bob mentioned above, the terms "soul" and "soul music" starts to frequently appear in Billboard Magazine in 1966/1967, mostly in conjunction with the release of Arthur Conley's "Sweet Soul Music". There are previous mentions of the term though and it's worth noting that Otis Redding's "Sings Soul" LP was released in September 1965 (and that was a fairly high profile record). I guess the term "soul" wasn't in mainstream use until later in the decade, but I've found the following clippings/ads from 1965 Billboard issues where the "soul " term was used to describe a specific type of music. 24 JULY 1965: 5 JUNE 1965: 23 OCTOBER 1965:
  17. The entire set is on Spotify in case anyone would like to give it a listen: https://open.spotify.com/album/5o1s6PjS3L9BzVasm5noQe
  18. Regardless of what is up for grabs... why does anyone bid on anything when there are 20 days to go on an auction?
  19. On her H-D-H produced stuff there is. Both on the LP and 45s:
  20. H-D-H produced (and wrote several of the tracks on) her "Just Being Myself" LP on Warner Bros from 1973. That's perhaps where the recordings stem from?
  21. The Herbert Hunter info should be posted in Look At Your Box as well in my opinion. Unique stuff.
  22. I sold that one. I found it at a yard sale here in Sweden. Another issue of Carol & Gerri sold on eBay one month prior to my sale. It had a 1 cm edge crack but still managed to fetch £247.
  23. Interesting that at least three of the tunes on the Herbert Hunter LP were released in other versions on the ELF label. "Earthquake" by Bobbi Lynn. "Funky Street Band" by Buzz Cason. "She Shot A Hole In My Soul" by Clifford Curry. All of the above have close links to Mac Gayden and/or Buzz Cason. Plus there's a version of Robert Knight's "Branded" on there which also was penned and produced by Gayden/Cason. Might be a clue in there somewhere. Or not! and it's just coincidence. But I'd put money on the LP recording being linked to Gayden/Cason in one way or another.
  24. Not that odd. The tune was bootlegged on a 12" EP along with Krisp "Sunlight", Wynd Chymes "Baby You're The One" plus one more track. I'm not surprised at the prices it is achieving. It has got the "right" sound and isn't exactly easy to track down these days regardless of how many copies you had 30 years ago. It seldom turns up for sale.
