Mailers And Stiffeners
If you'd like to have classic UK style brown envelope mailers, then these are very good value for money in my opinion: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=360135659517 £36.98 for 100 mailers and 200 cardboard stiffeners including shipping within Europe. Or you can order from their own homepage, it usually pushes down the shipping price a bit: https://www.soundswholesaleltd.co.uk/acatal...STIFFENERS.html They have those Bags Unlimited style mailers as well: https://www.soundswholesaleltd.co.uk/acatal...S_FREE_DEL.html

New Sounds - P Vine - Jap Import
The original TURBO release of this LP sounds bad as well (heavily distorted bass, muffled sound etc.), so I guess that it was during the mastering/mixing of the original masters that something went wrong. As often seemed to happen with ALL PLATINUM related material...

Most Danced To Tune At Wigan
That Construction tune is pure sunshine pop/soft rock. Sounds like it could've been the follow-up to The Sundowners "Always You" or something with heavy Curt Boettcher/Roger Nichols/Paul Williams involvement. Great tune!

That seems very cheap indeed!

Don Varner On House Of Orange
Was sorting through some stuff and came across a DJ copy of: Don Varner - I Can If You Can / That's All Right - HOUSE OF ORANGE 2404 Two good sides. "I Can If You Can" is a steady 4/4 uptempo tune and "That's All Right" is more on the funky side of things with weird echo effects etc. It's not in Manship's guide and I can't say that I've seen many copies for sale over the years. So... very rare, or just not mentioned a lot? Any ideas?

Motown Yesteryear
With 653 being 20 numbers before the 1982 release of 674...doesn't that at least put "Take Me To The River" as being released in 1980-ish? I'm trying to come up with why they decided to put an otherwise LP-only track out as a 7", apart from the fact that Talking Heads had a high charting version of it in 1978/1979.

Motown Yesteryear
Ah OK, thanks for clearing that up. It did give me the pleasure of having an image of Berry Gordy listening to "More Songs About Buildings And Food" in my head for a while...

Motown Yesteryear
Tony, do you know when they issued the Al Green 45? It just hit me that they might've issued it to cash in on Talking Heads hit version of it from 1978.

Marva And Melvin On Forte
It's from 1977. "(Get Ready For) The Changes" utilises the same backing track as Lee Harris "I'm Gonna Get Your Thing" and Marva Whitney "Daddy Don't Know About Sugar Bear" (both also on Forte). Have a listen: https://www.recordmania.net/media/music/SLN61955A.mp3 Haven't heard the flipside. Labelscan:

Country Soul Anyone?
Amazing LP. "I Must Be In A Good Place Now" on that album is one of my all-time favourite tunes. Has moved me to tears several times. Totally agree with Joe South and Boz Scaggs as well (George Freeman's version of "I'll Be Long Gone" on EPIC is also great). The two volumes in the "Country Got Soul" series are both well worth checking out if you're into this kind of sound. Here they are: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Country-Got-Soul-1/dp/B00009WNAU/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Country-Got-Soul-V.../dp/B0002JU61W/

Country Soul Anyone?
Haven't read that one, but another book "Say It One Time For The Broken Hearted - The Country Side Of Southern Soul" by Barney Hoskyns also tackles this topic. A very good read in my opinion. Here it is: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Say-One-Time-Broke...d/dp/074754137X

Country Soul Anyone?
A superb tune, but it really would surprise me if it would get plays on the northern scene. Great ballad flipside as well ("Changin' Colors")!

Peanut Duck
Warner Music Group owns Rhino Records and a couple of years ago "The Peanut Duck" was included on Rhino's box set "One Kiss Can Lead to Another - Girl Group Sounds Lost and Found". That's probably why WMG have interfered and the reason why that YouTube video doesn't have any sound. Rhino usually does things "by the book" and they must've licensed it from someone. Does anyone of you have that box-set and can see what's in the liner notes?

Dr. Soul....left Eye Jump....value Please
Fantastic pounding tune. Sounds great at a venue. Still fairly unknown it seems. It is £75 in Manship's latest guide, but usually sells for £20-£30. Also... Craig Moerer has currently got 35 M- copies in stock priced at $75 each.

King Moses Re-issue
Can't see why I should be in trouble? Anyone that would've put the following into a google search would've found that MP3: "King Moses" "I Forgot To Say (I Love You)" It's available from a public server.

It's a recently made bootleg.
