Wanted The Aquamen
I remember playing this out a few years ago at Patching (scout hut) and at Burnley nighter. It went down well both times. Crazy garage record but with a stomping beat. Good to hear it out again at Crossfire when Sean Chapman played it. >>sorry didn't want to but in and not selling my copy just always loved this one for some strange reason!! Regards Kev

Aalon Butler And The New Breed-Pkc
Kev-I'm not knocking the record I quite like both sides, but the Price guide I have from a couple of years ago has it marked up 1000% more than the £30 quoted. Hence the 'Disney' -Mickey Mouse-unreal reference. Could be a casual mis-print. Lol. Best Kev

The All Time Mr M's Floor Fillers
I distinctly remember Sylverster being played maybe around 78/79. 100% as I thought it was a bit strange compared to the usual fare served up in there.I remember M's being totally empty. Sure it was one of those 'quiet nights' when the Casino was next to empty. There seemed to be a mass exodus at one point during the late 70's. Best Kev

The All Time Mr M's Floor Fillers
Took me a while to venture on to the dancefloor in M's as it used to scare me sh*!less as a young kid, but I remember the first record I danced to in there was Ramsey Lewis' 'Wade in the Water' and the last tune I remember hearing in there was Sylvesters' 'You Make Me Feel Mighty Real'. Best Kev

Pied Piper - A New Concept In Detroit Soul
Its a few weeks now since the cd's been issued and for what its worth here's my two-penneth! To these ears accessing the back files of the Pied Piper material is akin to a chocoholic opening a big fat chocolate bar and revealing a GOLDEN TICKET to appear at the gates of Willy Wonker's chocolate factory. I am a fan and this cd delivers for me and more. It's good to see some of the lesser played out tracks like Miki Farrow's 'Could It Be' and Tony Hester's 'I Just Can't Leave You'on here. And as my good friend Mark commented, 'It's about time the Mike and Ray and The Sandpiper tracks got a broader airing and a little time in the limelight.' Both Detroit soul aka mid 60's through and through. The cd is not without its pleasant suprises. The photos of very young Jack Ashford and Lorraine Chandler and Mike Terry playing 2nd trombone in The Joe Hunter Band are priceless and as usual the sleeve notes from Ady documenting the highs and lows of the Pied Piper production team are as illuminating and thorough as you'd expect. My favourite track at the moment is The Cavaliers 'We Go Together' which I find sublime in its sophisticated simplicity. But like I say I am a fan. Willie Kendrick's version of 'Time Changes Things', though not as heavy as The Metros' version, could become some Pied Piper fans' favourite take. Also if anyone doubted the country 'twang' of Nancy Wilcox's vocals listen again to 'In The End'. I could go on. I love this cd and hope there's still more to come. 1966 Pied Piper a new dimension in Detroit Soul. 'Rock on Tommy' Best Kev

Jerry Ragovoy Has Died
A real GIANT gone. How influential was Jerry Ragovoy?. I can't go very far into the records on my shelves without coming across this name. One of the most prolific writers/arrangers/producers of all time. A very sad loss to us all. R.I.P. Jerry. Up with the angels now. God Bless. Kevin

2011-03-10: The Prestatyn Weekender - March 10th - 14th 2011
Another great weekend in North Wales. Thanks for the invite to Channel 6 again Colin I always enjoy that part of the weekend. Highlights for me were: Jesse James-Fri night...to see the pure pleasure on old soul friends faces. What it's all about for me. Seeing Tattoo man, (Dore collector exstroadinaire), Dave Hogeson's face when Rita Graham sang GWTWIML accapella in the radio room. Pure heaven. Loved Butch playing Boulevard Sat, Lifeline session, on a system that allows it to breath. Cliffe Steele Wowed me with his set that night as well. Trying to dance to a record Sam played towards the end of his set in Redemption room-Big mistake but enjoyed the Ongoing Times, New Day. The live show on Saturday, as fine as can be again. Well done! Finally getting some of my Lorraine Chander/Volumes/Precisions records signed-We wouldn't be there without you. Thankyou. Didn't make Sunday as I took to my bed. Candle both ends burnt. Hats off to John, All the Marks and Colin. Roll on The 11th. Best Squeaky Kev. .
