  1. Another one that I let go years ago that I need a nice condition copy of. The OJay's - Hold On / Working On Your Case - Minit PM with condition and price please. Many thanks Mark
  2. Was earning about £15 a week in 1976 and was at a Notts Palais alldayer. Had £20 on me and got offered Lilly Bryant on Tayster and Doni Burdick on Sound Impressions both £20 each. Chose the the Doni Burdick and went home skint. As Mace says it's when you break that £100 figure that you really are off on that long slippery slope. Remember I paid £100 to John Powney for a copy of Carol Anderson on Whip in 1995 and not managed to get off the slippery slope since then. Mark

As has already been said there are loads of venues in the West and East Midlands, some good and some not so good. Out of the nighters I have tried Lifeline, Rugby and Bidds are all good. Soul night's I have visited and rate include The Attic, Sunflower Lounge, USOS, Bentinck, The Modern Room and our own Select Soul night at The Craythorne. All promotors push their own venues as quality nights but I find the best thing is to look in lookbacks and see what the punters say. We have been lucky enough to have had some of the countrys top DJ's say some very nice things about our night

As quoted above £80 seems about average. Have seen them higher and lower. Had this in my box Saturday and would have played it if you had asked but wasn't sure how it would go down so I played it safe !!

  11. Sam played it last Sunday, it sounded great and filled the floor. Hearing a smalltime North Notts DJ might have aquired another copy!!
  12. Like a lot of people on here I like to listen to new sounds and have tired of some oldies, but Carl Spencer does still hit the spot. One of the records that makes you just got to have a dance. Over 30 years since I bought my own copy and still love it. Hope you find one. Mark
  13. Any Volumes record as they all seem to have 2 great sides Carol Anderson - Taking My Mind Off Love / I'm Not Worried Magnetics - Count The Days / When I'm With My Baby
  14. Hi Mark I can remember years ago people using Letraset and it looked cool but its dead time consuming. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just letters in black. I have tried a couple of printers that I have used over the years and the top loaders are the ones that manage to load the card ok. It's just the thickness of the card they struggle with. Mark
  15. When I am sorting which 200 records to put in the box for a guest spot Liz always comes out with her bit of helpful advice " Why can't you just turn up with a 25 count box like Butch did at Willington" I've tried to explain that the chances of someone playing the same tunes as Butch has in his 25 count box are fairly slim but she always comes out with the same line !! Mark
  16. Anyone able to recommend a printer that will print on white card record covers. I have a printer that does it but with quite a high failure rate. I have used labels but would prefer to print directly onto the covers. Any help welcome. Thanks Mark

Manships has it as £100 but you never seem to see it. Is the stock copy rarer than the demo?
  18. Don't see where you get the shit post bit from. I thought Dean was being realistic WITHOUT slagging anyone off. Mark
  19. Hi Nev As has been mentioned on here before Bob likes to put an unrealistic reserve on all of his items and then after the auction has ended he emails ALL bidders trying to get someone to take the item at a price close to his reserve. Have had many conversations with him but he can't grasp the fact that he is asking higher than Manship book price for records that very often are only in VG or VG+ condition. Get on the bidding list and he will email you but don't expect to get it anywhere near as low as the £1800 John got for his mint copy. Mark
  20. Both sides are fantastic and it's hard to choose which is the best one. As stated there are bootlegs about and lots of people happy to play them out which gives a false picture of how many original copies there are.

I have posted a want up before without any success but I think the aim of me posting would be looking for one of 2 things: 1. If it's a fairly common record to get severall offers and take the best one. Still need to say already sorted to the other offerers. 2. If it's a rarer item to get any offer and if it's reasonable to take it. But Pete's original point was that people are posting, asking for PM's and then not bothering to reply to the PM's. AND THERES NO EXCUSE FOR THAT !! It takes less than 2 minutes just to type a brief comment such as "already sorted, thanks" or "more than I want to pay, thanks" or something similar so theres no excuse at all for no response. IMHO Mark
