  1. Thats a piece of cake to understand Winnie compared to some of the issues on the soul scene I find particle physics more of a challenge myself
  2. Not rocket science Len so why is it so hard to find a venue that plays that perfect mix? One of life's great mysteries
  3. This can only be done by using part of the matrix or a stamp as reference ignoring the label surely? Thats how its put in JMs book e.g. if you hold the stamp at 6 0'clock x will be at 3 and y will be at 9 o'clock Just realised someones already said that but i've typed it so...
  4. Sean, that the best written post I've read for a long time and sums the situation up perfectly. Something I'd like to add is that on the "nostalgia" scene there is a sizeable number of people who aren't being nostalgic. What I mean is that there are people who were never there in the 70s, they've stumbled across the scene in recent years either via going with a partner or mates or in some other way. Before the plates start being thrown, I'm not saying theres anything wrong with people who weren't there. BUT these people don't and cant be expected to know the ins and outs of the scene, how things were or how they should be and any arguments such as this would mean absolutely nothing to them! To give you an example theres a night local to me which is actually on tonight, very successful with over 300 in every month. I don't go very often but the last time I went I counted in my immediate vicinity around 20 people who I know, out of this 20 maybe 12 or 13 had no history on the northern scene and had probably never been to a soul night 5 years ago. Its basically an over 50s night out for a fair chunk of the crowd and I daresay the music doesn't mean an awful lot to them. Dont get me wrong I'm not saying everyone is like this or that theres anything wrong with over 50s going out and enjoying themselves but this type of pesrson has swelled the numbers considerably. All this adds to the pressure to dilute or dumb things down to please the maximum number of people, keep everyone dancing and coming back next month (Mr DJ - whatever you do dont play a record that they dont know) to the detriment of the whole thing.
  5. You either get it or you don't
  6. Would the person who suggested the taking off of the said record care to step up and put their case forward?
  7. Frank Lyndon great memories but wouldnt want to hear it played out on a regular basis!
  8. I was going to say that but couldn't be arsed
  9. Terry's not exagerrating mate, not sure if you'd get a playlist off Danny though
  10. Dont have to think back too far mate, did exactly that last Saturday at Burnley and will be doing it on the 27th at Lifeline
  11. Cheers Ian, is the said Lp difficult to obtain anyone?
  12. Exactly!! You wanted to be part of an elite, underground scene that set you apart from the rest. Not one that was watered down, commercialised and full of tw@ts who didnt have a clue and made what was special to you a laughing stock!
  13. Just playing some old tapes and came across this, had forgotten all about it. Is it an LP only track?
  14. At one time in my life I used to wish I'd been old enough to go to the Torch and early Wigan years, mainly due to older lads forever telling us how good it was. Now I'm glad I didn't cos I'd now be nearer to 60 than 50 rather than the other way round, like some of you old buggers on here! Started Notts Palais dayers in 75 aged 15 and Wigan in 78, never claimed anything else As a 17 year old at Wigan I cant remember too many younger ones although there would have been some
  15. Very true, they'd all stand with their arms folded and look at you like you'd got two heads! Fairly regular play at Burnley over the last few years BTW (Stu Bennett)
  16. Got to say I agree completely, if it was cheap it would never have received any attention.
  17. Cant remember the first time I heard it but Do I Love You was a massive part of my youth, great memories of a fantastic time. Got fed up with it in recent times but probably the most significant record played on our scene ever. Not forgetting his other contributions of course but you can't get away from the impact of this record. RIP Frank and thanks.........
  18. Yes it was mate, I've got your madeline bell still with the original sleeve saying"original copies" ( must have been on the wall) Dont know if that was where Huzij got his frank beverley from (also now in my box ) although thats an issue
  19. I can completely understand the pre arguments for for me personally its post, the amount of info I've learned makes up for the negatives
  20. Thats class Terry
