  4. was "HARVEY" records part of the Motown stable ? (just browsing that list above)
  5. can't be any worse than that awful 'tribute' thing doing the rounds at present.. Soul music should have proper instruments, proper musicians and proper soul. not a bedroom DJ mashing together a few electronic voices and coming up with an Ibiza anthem...... i'd rather listen to funky soul any day, over this rubbish
  6. great read, thank you for posting
  7. which ones are you looking for ? i have 3 left for sale
  8. Pounding blue eyed soul of the highest quality. £70 inc p/p. lovely condition, few light surface marks, but no noise in audio (excuse my grading, im no dealer)
  9. I dont know what to say really Pete, but i do know the choice of soul nights in your area is quite plentiful. perhaps this is a factor ? whatever it is, thanks for putting on this friendly event , i went a handful of times and i was looking forward to sharing the decks with Glynn at the July date, sadly now not to be. all the best for the future, hope to catch up with you soon. IAN
  10. https://www.audionetwork.com/production-music/album/60s-soul_1749.aspx A drumming buddy of mine has played on a few recent recordings. most written by Steve Levine & Terry King. i'm suitably impressed. have a listen, see what you think. I reckon they've pretty much nailed the recording technique with a vintage Calrec bass drum mic and a single overhead condensor, vintage guitar amps and vocal mics he didnt tell me the reason for the recordings, maybe an album / live shows ? not sure
  11. https://www.ebay.co.u...622561988726316 I have one here that looks nothing like this at all
  12. maybe Chud should come clean as to their identity, after all, you've given your name away (in error i would assume) in the 'Palais' (all our yesterdays) thread .......... unless its been removed already

  16. I'm looking to trade this nice WD for Garnett Mimms - looking for you (UK preferred) or a couple of these Grapevine goodies: Sam Williams/Billy Hambric/Dena Barnes/Duke Browner/Morris Chestnut/Tomangoes
  17. i dunno whats up with you miserable old codgers ! feel free to frequent your 'up your own arse' .... i mean up front events. personally i find nothing wrong with any kind of clothing folk decide to wear at a soul event, its their choice. the retro look is great, last nights turnout at lincoln were ultra cool on the whole, smart suits, rockabilly styles, modern casuals, the lot. next saturdays will no doubt have a good few circle skirts and the odd pair of bags, fair play to em. last weekends Grosvenor rooms was packed with folk enjoying themselves, it had premier league DJ's and premier league music. remember that when you're stood scratching your arse at a half empty event. can the scene progress any more and do we really want it to? where can it go? what else does it have to offer? answers on a postcard please for the guy who has a balls to call them 'dick heads' , at least have the guts to say it to faces. bloody keyboard warriors IAN (who no longer wears bags, but sometimes wears a pair of 20" bottom vintage spencers)
  18. really ? take a look at last nights photo's

very sad news. just watching that clip above reinforces the fact that Dunn & Jackson were tighter than a gnats chuff. RIP

  21. seems to be getting personal. i never intended it to be! My original post was a genuine question regarding a flood of 'soul' nights in a small geographical area.
