  1. Its quite simple to understand really if you read the thread. If something is advertised with a certain picture, but what arrives is not the item in the picture, then people question why. For me its got nothing to do with having a first or second press, OVO or any other bollocks, and has nothing what so ever to do with the artist. I just wanted to understand why I didn't get what I thought I ordered. Call it nonsense if you want but it was a perfectly logical question to ask.
  2. Not really. The question really was why when on pre-release order and all the advertised copies were shown as white, people were sent a 2nd press (Timmion's own words) of yellow. No biggie for me as I said above, but there was some confusion caused.
  3. According to Timmion they ran out of white label copies during pre-order so pressed yellow to meet the demand.
  4. For what its worth I don't see how two different colour labels released at the same time could be regarded differently. I just liked the white label and wanted one
  5. This is from the Timmion website as of 1 minute ago....Yellow 2nd Press
  6. Read my reply above On Discogs and Timmion's own website Yellow is the 2nd press
  7. The Yellow is classed as a second press. I pre-ordered ready for the release and got yellow copies expecting white, so I'm not sure what's going on
  8. OK good info Chalky. Its been years since I read it so going on memory.
  9. I think the Robert Pruter book 'Chicago Soul' will provide quite a bit of info as he delves deeply into the history of Chicago's black music scene. I read it years ago and my copy is in storage but I'm sure Tarleton gets a bit of coverage. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/362107.Chicago_Soul ATB Andy

  11. This used to go thru Ebay with hardly any bidders. I bought two copies from a dealer in Carolinas for a few dollars each. Not and never will be a 200-400$ record.
  12. Manship played it at Ashby on Sunday. Just to add to the label listing. A bit more country music...
  13. I think 'Badsamba' had one in sales last week.
  14. For your delectation... A 'low rider' and always in demand. This comes again from the basement of the store owner who closed his shop decades ago. The Spoilers - Sad man's land - Turbo - £120 The label has some fading, but no rips, stains, writing or flaking. The vinyl is bright and shiny but has a small edge storage warp in one specific place which does NOT affect the play. There is a light 'swoosh' on the run in for a second or so when it passes over but after the music kicks in it plays loud and proud. All sales guaranteed with full refund etc. Postage 1.50 UK First, 2.50 recorded and 5.00 worldwide or special at cost. Payment by Paypal as F&F or add 5% if that's your preferred option. ATB Andy
  15. Yes it looks like the ones I've had. Also both vinyl and styrene copies. There is a WDJ with different label designs also if I recall.
  16. I don't know if this has been posted up before, but some nice background on what was one of the biggest tunes at one time provided by an obscure north west artist. https://www.historylink.org/File/10393 Enjoy ! Andy
  17. Saw them at Middlecroft Leisure Centre, Chesterfield circa '76 and they were superb.

  19. A bit of research last night and it seems that the Miracles third LP was released in 1962 but most of the songs had been used already on 45's. Motown weren't keen on 'Mother' as a 45 and felt the new tracks didn't sound like the Miracles. So the solution was to go back to 'Way over there' which flopped on its 1960 release and back it with 'Mother'. However as you say #94 was its best place in the chart. The initial mix of 'mother' wasn't great and Motown decided to pull the 45 and remix and reissue, hence the 06 and 09 records. Another source suggests that as Motown grew worldwide and Smokey Robinson's individual popularity had increased towards the later 60's Motown tried to capitalise again by reissuing some of the earlier 45's. No firm evidence on that just speculation.
  20. Yes looks like ARP but a bit mashed. Can we confirm repress ? If so why would Motown repress ?
  21. Put this in the wrong thread.... Thread in 2014 in Wants about the variants for this 45 Ok so I know this thread goes back some time but looking through the boxes I got a little curious about this. I've looked at Popsike and Google in general and I don't seem to see this label variant (see scan). It has 2 stamps in the run out groove - one is "Nashville Matrix" and the other I cant make out as its smaller (you might be able to make this out if you can enlarge - bottom left to the left of the Nashville matrix). The DM025209 is scratched in the run out also with a small "10" about 1 cm to the right. Way over there is the flip BTW. If any of you Motown aficionados can provide some info, that would be great. Cheers Andy

  23. Len 25 years ago I found a Mel Britt I thought had been lost or stolen stuck inside an LP cover alongside the LP itself. For years I had dark thoughts and suspicions about its fate, but there it was in the LP cover. To this day I still do not know it got there, as I certainly would not have put it there, and finding it was pure chance as I was about to sell some albums. You probably have it somewhere, but that pesky vinyl ghost has moved it
  24. for your consideration.... The Jaguars - The metropolitan - Alco VG £100 (sounds great booming out in a venue) label has a couple of watermarks (see scan) and vinyl has many hairlines but no scratches, gouges or surface noise. Plays well above the grade listed. Hear it on JM's site at £250 https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/55486-the-metropolitan-wanda-why.html Post 1.50 first, 2.50 recorded, 5.00 worldwide Paypal as F&F or plus 4%.
