i never said i wasn't going to do that actually, the plan is to hand deliver any northern fire he is missing & then help him navigate through the first night safely in person, it's all part of my new jet setting lifestyle of giving back to the scene.

post what records you've got & i'll put them in order for you then tell you which ones to go buy before the gig so you can play a killer set
  3. all northern soul this week including a guest spot by ex-UK soul fan Ian Footitt https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/20075650
  4. Ronnie Taylor (Revilot/Nassau/Columbus Pharaohs/OFS Unlimited) lives here in Auckland, went to see him singing at a cafe with just a pianist, pulled out the Nassau 45 for him to sign, blew him away, I think it made his year that someone here knew. Got a cool photo with him & some stories about the good old days.
  5. It's probably a combination, for every bunch of jazzers like Chase there is probably an even number of r&b loving bands embracing horn sections & their blue-eyed soul or whatever to the next step ala The Buckinghams.
  6. well, Led Zep did steal the lead riff of Watch Your Step for Moby Dick
  7. gotta keep you on your toes
  8. I think Soul is kind of to blame for the whole "Horn Rock" genre (Blood, Sweat & Tears et al).
  9. This Hollywood one is pretty cool too with Paul Humphrey on drums, maybe looks like Bobby Bryant on Trumpet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2aiPSZ-AM8&feature=related
  10. facemelting stuff, cool to see Isaac Hayes leading the Memphis Horns.
  11. I've been hammering that Vanguards 45 on Lamp lately, one of my current faves for sure.
  12. short answer, financially no, musically it depends on your taste. i can tell you it was released on four different labels......

  15. Perfections is rare, I don't have an original, only the reissue.
  16. This week is a two hour tribute show, all Jimmy Castor, Johnny Otis & Etta James https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19919217
  17. it's been known to have been mooted for release but for whatever reason one side was switched & Two Years Four Days was replaced. Incredibly cool that a promo managed to escape & has surfaced. I think the Twinight discog on Soulful Kinda Music just forgot to include "unreleased" beside the listing as they do say "unreleased" beside it on their Renaldo Domino discog.
  18. wow, as another Twinight fanatic, this is major.

didn't go through this time, but yeah essentially if you have a site which uses media that you don't own the copyright on it could be randomly shut down if they find it, so no more youtube, vimeo, soundcloud, divshare, music blogs etc etc
  20. I have a Frankie Valli "You're Ready Now" which someone has handwritten Soul Supply on the label
