  1. this is a hoax, the same thing has been popping up on DJ email lists & message boards for a couple of years now, scares people for a sec & then dies off again. I think it all started from the discontinuation of a variation of the Mk6 which was then misleadingly reported online as meaning the whole line & then incorrectly copied through reports on other sites ad nauseum. No need to panic.
  2. updated here: Reginald/Lynn's etc discog please let me know if you know of any others I'm missing. Thanks
  3. who was the seller?
  4. according to cfrenzy the most expensive ones are in order: Eddie Boyd "Back Beat" on red vinyl. Bobby Sisco "Go Go Go" (rockabilly) George Kirby "What Can I Do" The Valentinos "Sweeter Than The Day Before" wlp Ray Frazier "Gonna Get Your Love" according to popsike: Jackie Brenston "Rocket 88" Jimmy Rogers "Left me With A Broken Heart" Tony Clarke "Landslide" wlp The Moonglows "I Knew From The Start" UK on London The Vibrations "Make It Last" wlp all of these are pretty hard to turn up.
  5. I think "Drifting Drifter" was the first Little Milton 45 on Checker I ever owned, pulled out of either Flashback or Haggle (whatever one of those stores has a downstairs) in East London.
  6. cripes, never seen that UK Little Walter on London. Awesome.
  7. yes sorry, not in the UK. But I did get a GP referral for them after my ear went fuzzy after a night beside a particularly badly placed monitor speak at a gig. Luckily no permanent damage but I learnt my lesson.
  8. I wear them when necessary, I have special fitted musicians ones which make everything quieter but don't affect the frequencies as much as the foam cheapies.
  9. ok, I'll stop now, there're just too many Chess records in my house....... this is just some of them. One of my favorite labels of all time.
  10. uk stock.....................................................................new zealand styrene stocks ...................................................................................nz again white label vinyl.......................................................purple label styrene (needs an upgrade) pic sleeve holds stock styrene disk....................comeback trail, I also had "Ain't No Soul" on Contempo but didn't like it This is probably the most popular comp, I seem to have it twice even lol
  11. Shouldn't be more than $20 in the real world, but you'd probably have to go $30+ on ebay. Strong LP.
  12. I love the loud, clear, crisp sound on many styrene 45s when they are mint. Unless you don't know how to set up a turntable or plan on cueing it up or scratching with it then there isn't really a problem with buying new old stock styrene 45s. If Moerer has a load of Little Willie Jones on styrene he is probably sitting on a box of mint deadstock & they will probably sound awesome.
  13. Rich Haupt's story about tracking down Jr & the Soulettes is incredible
  14. Netti flies out today from NZ, I listened to her pack her set on the weekend, good stuff. Enjoy the weekend
  15. Does anyone here know the physical addresses of these labels back in their early days?
  16. It seems to have been a bit all over the place getting to NZ lately. Somethings have been taking 4 weeks, but others 1 week from the US. The one box I'm really fiending for was sent from Germany on the 22nd..... Just live by the saying that "heavier records take longer" (the anticipation)...
  17. That Jerry Wexler book is actually a really good read.
  18. hopefully i'll get some time this week to dig out some New Zealand Stateside 45s & post them up...............
  19. looks cool, do any of these BBC docos ever get released on dvd for people outside of the UK to see?
  20. very cool, a lot of that paperwork/promo stuff is going high on ebay at the moment.
