  1. What I really want to know is how the 3rd Vikki/Vicki Styles 45 on Lynn's sounds? Anyone got a clip of that? Reminds me I need to update that discography too.
  2. Great 45. Probably worth about twice or triple what you just paid for it George. Thought I might be able to score myself a double on the cheap, but you obviously saw it too Check out my discography/post of it here: Vikki Styles - Tears Won't Stop Falling
  3. I don't know if that's what they meant or what? I mean, as you say, the instrumental is on the flip of every Philips copy of that 45 I've ever seen. Are they actually asking if anyone's ever seen the US press with the instrumental on the flip? Because the answer is pretty obviously yes I would have thought
  4. OK, just got back today (before leaving again for 2 weeks on Sunday). I'm missing discs from Andy & Alan. So, if you guys could either resend or maybe just upload them to divshare or whatever & send me a download link then that would work too.
  5. I think I am waiting on 2 still, but am away from home at the moment so can't get to check the names of those people to make contact. I think I got 7 or 8 out of the 9 coming.
  6. Good record, heavy on the "Tighten Up" influence musically. I actually like the Aquarian version. I had a box of them a few years back, sold them easily for under $10 each, not expensive.
  7. as per the above youtube clip, I really enjoyed seeing them on the Beat DVDs.
  8. I actually don't mind paying a bit more to Craig for certain things because I am confident of his grading, fast shipping & bulletproof mailers. Peace of mind has a price. Taking a gamble on some other sellers version of VG+ or Ex just to save a few dollars has led to enough major disappointment/hassle in the past for me to be thankful that Craig does what he does. I have a list of 20+ sellers I trust on ebay & usually will just buy from them, Craig Moerer is on that list. No complaints about him or his stock from me.
  9. Collectors Frenzy Popsike
  10. I was thinking of posting up a couple of my most prized 45s, but after the reception last time I think I'll hold off now.
  11. Which one? there's 2 on Vee Jay, one is "I Don't Know What You've Got" Pt.1 b/w Pt.2. The other is "What You've Got" b/w "Dance A Go Go". Both are VeeJay 698. I might have the first spare (would have to check) but I've never seen the one with the different flip in real life (only a label scan of it). also to make matters worse, apparently these both feature different takes of the track. The first one definitely has the backing vocals by Don Covay & the second apparently does not. Also apparently there is prominent organ on the second, while the organ on the first is fairly quiet.
  12. Just got Mal's today, hope to get a chance to listen over the weekend, cool pics
  13. As far as I know, the combined version of version 1 (the version with backing vocals) is only available on the Rhino box set. I'm unaware that it was ever released on vinyl, but am curious if it was.... Jimi Hendrix on guitar & the backing vocalist is Don Covay in case people didn't know. This is the box that came out a few years back:
  14. just listened to Buey's yesterday & agree about the Little Ron Johnson, I want it now! Never heard that before. Am also just listening to Martin's, it is cool too. Thanks guys.
  15. just got Buey's today, can't wait to listen

Thanks, that's cool, 71 or 72 doesn't change the story much, it is a bit interesting that it has 71 printed on the label, maybe the typesetter was having a flashback that day, or it was stuck in the production line for a time, weird. I didn't buy it when it came out, so yours/billboard's 72 evidence is another case of how the actual record label info can cause research headaches.

OK, here's the deal, it's pretty much all because of Huey P Meaux & his "crazy" way of releasing stuff/trying to get hits. Barbara Lynn is on Atlantic who are releasing records on her which are produced/licensed from Huey. Nice & Easy was originally released as the B side of an Atlantic 45 in 71 even though it's sound places it earlier than 71, a sign that the track was kicking around in limbo even since the LP sessions of 68 (the early master number supports this). Huey no doubt had a lot of Barbara recorded & the Atlantic LP drew on tracks which he had in the can. Nice & Easy would have been just one which didn't make the LP at the time. After Atlantic dropped her, the song again turned up as the flip of "Sugar Coated Love" on Copyright, for no other reason really than he needed/wanted to put it on the flip of that 45 which he had just recorded & wanted to release asap after the Atlantic deal soured. Later the song again resurfaced on one of the Jet Stream 45s, for a similarly arbitrary reason. Huey just took 2 tracks, "You Better Quit It" & "Nice and Easy", old recordings which had both been previously released while Barbara was on Atlantic (and on the Copyright 45) & pressed them up to try & get some more sales. The reason the old sides were used is because Barbara had by this time split to California to concentrate on family. The Barbara Lynn Jet Stream 45s are all roughly mid 70s releases after the label was revived by Meaux following the Atlantic deal. The early releases on Jet Stream (700 series) are all up to his 67 jail sentence, while the 800 series are from the early/mid 70s. The Jetstream stuff is confusing though because the later 45s still use older recordings for the most part. Meaux did not make things easy with his less than logical release/re-release schedule.
  21. just received Cliff's yesterday. will hopefully get to listen over the next couple of days.

Roy Hytower was machine gunner in vietnam, between his Avin & Brainstorm records.
  23. Does everyones's copy of John's CD only play through one speaker?
  24. lol, yeah you have some spelling mistakes in there Received it 2 days ago & am just getting to the end of it now. Good stuff, reminding me of lots of 45s I haven't played out myself in a while, so I must dig them out & get them back in the box. Also received John's yesterday, looks cool, but haven't listened yet. I have to say you guys are game though posting a CD to New Zealand in a slip cover Fortunately the first two have arrived safely, I had my doubts though before opening the first one. Incredible & touch wood the rest arrive in one piece
