  1. Japanese press release from Panasonic stated that both the limited & general models will retail at around the $4000US price point. They are chasing the hi-fi audiophile market.
  2. For specialist 45 gigs I won't usually play for anything less than $100 as the guest. Obviously there are exceptions though. Depends on the situation. On tour I'll aim for at least $100 to $200 appearance fee/retainer & that can be for anything from a 45min set to multiple set rotations over 4 or 5 hours. But for example, on tour in Austin last year, I stayed with another DJ for the whole week & during that week played his 2 nights for free. Sometimes I'll guest for my good friends for free just to go hang out & jam with them & catch up. Ironically, the more mainstream gigs I do often pay better. I did 4 hours one night this weekend from Serato off my laptop playing all sorts of stuff for $100 an hour, not a soul 45 in sight.
  3. nice, "changed your mind again" & "let love in" are my picks. "Breathe" suffers a bit from the weak rhymes in the verses which make it sound a bit clunky at first impression. Good singing, good guitar. (one of my jobs for the last 15 years has been teaching songwriting, judging songwriting competitions & assessing songwriting students at secondary & tertiary levels).

  5. now i'm worried for the 45 i sent to the UK from the US through global shipping the other week......
  6. Just saw Mike James Kirkland last night perform his Mike & the Censations material, definitely still got it, sounded incredible.
  7. nope, there is no contact between seller & buyer until the buyer pays the GSP total & only then does the seller get the reference number & address of the GSP "megacentre" to post it to. you could possibly message them & ask them to complete the transaction outside of ebay but mostly the overseas buyers just pay to total. There is no option to send a corrected invoice before they pay & there is no way to unselect GSP as default on an auction as the seller once bidding has started.
  8. My friend Natasha just put this out, thought some might be interested https://www.fatbeats.com/products/mr-len-and-natasha-diggs-present-brunswick-records-soul-box-10x7-box-set-slipmat-limited-to-1000
  9. yeah the problem as a US seller is that all of a sudden for some stupid reason when i list, GSP is now the default & I have to physically unselect it, which i inevitably forgot to do in my last round of auctions, nice one for making it default ebay, shake my head. Probably catching a lot of US sellers out, i had it unselected forever & relisted & listed stuff where all of a sudden i just notice GSP is turned back on.
  10. ponderosa stomp festival in new orleans
  11. yeah, midniters for me.
  12. Aaron Neville would be except for the fact that his shows these days include more melisma than a high school talent show. Just sing the note dude.
  13. Yes Archie Bell still doing it for sure. As Mike mentioned, Willie Hightower was absolutely incredible live last month, his voice seemed totally unaffected by the ravages of time, stunning.
  14. So far four variations: 1) promo "Gotta" sleeve & white label 2) stock "Gotta" sleeve & label 3) stock "What" sleeve & label 4) stock "Gotta" sleeve & "What" label only Billboard listings are chart appearance of the "What" LP from early 1970.
  15. yeah, but again, bsn not always 100% accurate either, maybe definites are lost to time, wondering if promos exist for the "What Does It Take" LP?
  16. Only promo LPs I can find mentioned are "Gotta Hold On To This Feeling"
  17. Maybe because "What Does It Take" was the last single taken off the "Home Cookin'" LP, it was still hot so they included it on the next LP too & titled or retitled the LP accordingly??
  18. google images show there are matching "Gotta Hold On To This Feeling" titled labels The 45s state "taken from the What Does It Take album"
  19. Thanks. I have both covers but the labels title the album "What Does It Take" in both. Soulfulkindamusic lists "What Does It Take" 45 as the earlier single from 1969, followed by "These Eyes" & then "Gotta Hold On"
  20. Anyone got a definite on which is first & why the change?? I know discogs says that the original is the "What Does It Take" cover & the foreign issues (titled "These Eyes" also use that design). do all labels title the album as "What Does It Take To Win Your Love"? The variation is only in the covers? Or are there "Gotta Hold On To This Feeling" labels too?
  21. i contributed to this with scans of original 45s & some money, the Memphis premier last week looked amazing. can't wait to see it when it gets to Los Angeles!!
  22. I ride for his version of Blue Monday I was playing the other side "Sing" in R&B sets for a minute a few years back too, good vocalist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1Aocrla7cU
  23. Anyone know the story on this, how did this LP of Memphis Soul covers end up only coming out on Victor Japan in 1969? Was it recorded in Japan? Is it Sebastian Williams related?
  24. I was watching a GDL on Manship which sold for I think 500 or 800? (can't remember if I was converting it to US dollars or what)
  25. being positive is way better than being negative heh
