  1. Thanks chaps, much appreciated is that, seem to be making a lot of cock ups recently re the right group, wrong album or vice versa!! Bloody infuriating Regards Jim.
  2. Guys Anyone know the name of the album which 'Gotta lot of love in my soul' is on? Fantasy is the label. Coz basically I've bought the wrong one . Regards Jim
  3. Love all this chat and exchanging of opinions about this life enhancing music . Gave the album another spin tonite and you know what? It's a bloody stonker. What would all these guys think about us discussing their music all these years on? Thank God someone saw fit to explore the GWP,RCA and Pied Piper back roster so it could help all us get thru' the treacle, like the man said,'know Soul know happiness, no Soul no happiness'. Larry, GWP, RCA and the Steele Road Sherlocks we are not worthy Jim
  4. As good as SS???! A fine album it is but as good as SS? Picked it up from the Bowl many many years ago, must admit tho' the version of 'we can do it' is trouser expandingly good, altho' Jaibi's got the edge. Nice call Jim
  5. Ohio Soul rules! Been a bit partial to Way Out records, got most but theres ONE I know I'll never get, proving rather 'demanding' to say the least! Regards Jim
  6. Thanks for all this info guys, always had a bit of a thing for this label, great to get a bit more info on it all, the 'ol Ebony track always get's an airing at home and is not the Wales Wallace single the bargain of the century?? ta again Jim
  7. Just wanted to say what a f7"3ing brilliant record! Regards Jim

Terribly sad news, the length and breadth of this man's talent is limitless, he is that often used , but rarely justified term 'legend'. So many remarkable recordings over so many years. It's great to think he knew we were flipping over him in the UK. RIP. Jim.

Terrible news, what a loss, without wanting to sound like my Dad, they don't sing like that anymore, and sadly they never will again. Faves for me are too numerous to mention, but 'left with a broken heart' and 'whenever theres blue' always get a spin on record room nites, but really theres dozens of tracks isn't there? One of THE soul voices. R.I.P
  10. Picking up the detroit a go go album on a school trip to Swanage in '86 was my introduction to the man, awesome music to say the least. 'Singing about you and me' has been a regular home play and mood lifter for me for many a year, wonderful uplifting sound. Rest in peace Popcorn and thank you. Jim.
  11. sam fletcher on tollie mel williams on buddah vondells on airtown all rather rare and no bloody wonder. I'll get me coat. Jim
  12. Check out the rather wonderful 'nobody' (VOLT) by Marg also penned by the main man from the big easy. NICE.

'Stay with me' on Granite, need I say more? Regards Jim.

Hi All, So many but I'll just go with, 'Lets try it over' (cooler than a mohair clad eskimo), 'just another day', 'easy does it', 'I'm gonna stay', 'tell me why has our love turned cold', could go all day here!!, oh, and 'your love has made me a man', still great. Mind you a great tune written and produced by the Hutchmeister is by the humerously named 'Choo Choo Montgomery' called got to find another lover on Capricorn records, what a great little mover, not really sure if its had any action lately or not, but Lisas browned off with hearing it anyway . The B side ballads a bit good an' all. Donald Heights' versh of 'I choose you' (DAKAR) is actually a tad better than the orig (?) All the best Jim.

Christ mate get yourself better asap. I , unfortunately know the seriousness of this sort of thing on a daily basis. Haven't seen you for a good few years, (CIS nighter I think). The Aylesford high boys have got to stick together! Thoughts are with you, all the best Jim.
  16. it's just pish isn't it, please leave these songs alone whoever you are, they'll be remixing Marvin's songs next.....................................................DOH!
  17. Anyone got one of these in good nick. Have been after it for as long as I can remember, oh, it's by Two People on Revue but you knew that. Regards Jim
  18. Rest in peace mate, will miss that ferocious dancing. Thanx for a memorable trip to the Ritz in 96.
  19. Total class, mind you he could sing the Mcdonalds menu and that would sound fine to me 'I'M JUST A MORTAL MAN' from his earlier album is also rather royal, also on a seven. Regards Jim
  20. Please stop playing ' see when I git there' 'git there?'. Whats that all about? You know who you are. Jim.
  21. So sad, my thoughts are with all the family and friends at this time. Kind Regards Jim & Lisa.
  22. Bonjour Does anyone know how many times this little stonker was released? My Curtom tome suggests once, with the B side being 'Amen', but I'm sure I've heard another tune by them on Curtom which, (I assumed was the B side of 'Replacement'). Drives you nuts. All the best Mines' a pint of stout at the Raynescourt Jim.
  23. Erma Franklins 'I dont want no mammas boy' on Epic. Not really my usual sort of choon, but it's a rocker (perhaps I'm regressing to my mod days) anyone out there in virtual soul land know how much it goes for these days? Regards Jim 'chisel toe' Elliott
  24. Bonjour all, Whilst having a rummage at home the other day I found a copy of a tape I recorded from one of the Yarmouth early 90's weekender's radio shows and on it Butch was spinning a track by above. I've always quite liked it but after finding the tape again some years down the line I would'nt mind knowing if said record actually exists or if it's one of those sticky label scenarios. Anyone any idea? Cheers Jim.
  25. Just recently have been giving Jerry's (rather wordily titled) 1971 album 'Jerry Butler sings assorted sounds with the aid of assorted friends and relatives' a bit of a seeing to at home, class from start to finish. Anyway it's got a bit of a Sgt Pepper feel to it, ie theres loads of significant folk on the cover. I think I've found Terry Callier and Billy Butler and possibly Gerald Simms. Anyone any idea who the others are? Yes, I should get out more. Regards Jim.
