  1. Can David Fathead Newman, the musician be ruled out? Ed
  2. A sign of the times of big records you couldn't get a hold of. History indeed. Never bought one, but acquired plenty. Not great sound in most cases. Great days gone by. Ed
  3. CWG had one every year. Saw another at butlitz... Don't think they always pick the best records to dance to. So moves are un natural to the record, just to show ability and tricks. I think if you got it, flaunt it...not many better than me over 30 seconds:) but my 12inch version days are well behind me. Ed
  4. Don't know the unknown artist tune. Is it any good? I bet the seller was hoping for at least one nought on the end, if not two. Lots of hype to the ego maniac dj target audience. Mel Britt? Wished I'd been on that bus ride he joined from Chicago to Detroit all those years ago. Sounds as fresh as ever. Ed
  5. I think it is the b side...I'd also like to hear the a side. Not sure if this is the same mob, but before Johnny joined up.. Ed

  16. Nice version on b side. Has a " commitments" sound to it. Ed
  17. To be fair if you read the story.....where he was buried only allowed a simple name plate at that time. Last time I was in Detroit in 2017, there's plenty of cheap buildings that could be a proper museum for all the musical stars to be remembered. Its not just about Motown is it! My only concern with fancy headstones is vandalism. Standing in the shadows is a superb watch. Ed
  18. Filling in the gaps...if thats ok. Did big Al ever sing saving my love in his solo repertoire? The reverend al green. Further reading should mean a film is essential on his life! Albert Leornes Greene was born on April 13, 1946, in Forrest City, Arkansas.[9] The sixth of ten children born to Cora Lee and Robert G. Greene, Jr., a sharecropper, Al began performing with his sister in a group called the Greene Brothers at around the age of ten. The Greene family relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the late 1950s.[10] Al was kicked out of the family home while in his teens, after his devoutly religious father caught him listening to Jackie Wilson.[11] He then lived with a prostitute, began hustling[clarification needed], and indulged in recreational drugs.[12] "[I listened to] Mahalia Jackson, all the great gospel singers. But the most important music to me was those hip-shakin’ boys: Wilson Pickett and Elvis Presley. When I was 13, I just loved Elvis Presley. Whatever he got, I went out and bought."[13] In high school, Al formed a vocal group called Al Greene & the Creations.[14] Two of the group's members, Curtis Rodgers and Palmer James, formed an independent label called Hot Line Music Journal. In 1968, having changed their name to Al Greene & the Soul Mates, they recorded the song "Back Up Train", releasing it on Hot Line Music.[15] The song was a hit on the R&B charts and peaked at Number 46 in the Cash Box Top 100. However, the group's subsequent follow-ups failed to chart, as did their debut album Back Up Train. Ed

  20. Must have been great times. Major Lance was one of those artists who I just missed out on seeing. Always regret that. Last time I was in that area was contracting at the point of ayr colliery! Happy days. Ed
  21. Whats the flip side like? Only ever had the " must have " uk release about 78? The voice fits the song for sure on PHAS. Massive tune back then. Ed
  22. Some fine funky soul in that mix.. Get down on it! Ed
