  2. If you were going to save your pennies for one visit in a year, to USA based record fair ; which one would anyone recommend based on say a) Most soul / rnb records there b ) Most spread of value 45s ie some $1 stuff, some $1000 stuff c) You just though it was great ! Be interesting to the hear the views of those who have been A friend of mine is going to Philly I believe to some record fair there..............
  3. Thanks for clip, worth watching... Two good points 1. All the records in fairs are already found and sorted (of course could be mislabelled or unknown by that dealer) 2. Getting to the source is where the main discoveries are made The other thing, it takes TIME........................
  4. Thanks for the tune,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  5. Now you Guys aren't gonna tell me its unsual for an artist to have / be a "one hit Northern soul wonder"
  6. I guess there's no pleasin you on this one......... lol I have both the GL tracks as mp3s..........
  7. Thanks for all replies, very interesting..........
  8. Could you flip it over Pete ? Isn't the other side the Instrumental ?
  9. I have heard there are two releases of this 45 ? Anyone have the scans please. Also which is the rarer / dearer or are they the same value? WDJ or Issue harder to find ? How much to purchase if one comes up for sale ? Thank you krh68
  10. A friend, who is a dj in Antwerp, told me he is awaiting the file. So If he gets it I shall advise.................hopefully not just someone playing with the track speed !
  11. Somebody was telling me there is an alternate version (alternate to the issue) around Anyone know of this, be it acetate etc ? Be interested to hear it, if exists Thanks krh68
  12. Hi, Just another small factor to add besides all the well made points about supply and demand. As many 45s now make their way to ebay, gemm and other related sites the volume of supplied 45s available to all 24/7 via the internet has certainly increased. You may have once given old personal items away or donated them to charity ; many are now car boot sold or placed on ebay. Records have followed a similar change. People don't chuck them away for cents when they are easy to sell on or list for sale. So I do think their is an increased supply and increased knowledge and that's combined with a general downturn and lack of cash to purchase. However, that wasn't my point............ My point is mp3 music. The Download Is King. Many people collect no vinyl at all, some no cds at all either. Why ? Well loads of tunes are now available for free on internet download. Much of it certainly illegal, but its there. You can use many of the torrent sites, free share sites even You Tube to collect thousands of tracks very quickly and easily. I met a guy on the continent who had over 75,000 tracks in his "to be sorted folder"..........hundreds of thousands of tracks overall.................... For most common groups and labels you can ususally find an mp3 somewhere within minutes to 4/5 hrs. Mid range rare stuff in a day or so. Very rare stuff within a week. Personally I still like vinyl, but maybe the trend is moving - mp3 wise - and that's also affecting the need to buy for some.......... [i do record my vinyl to mp3 now]
  13. Just bought this myself : George Freeman - The Moment You Came Into My Life (Kool) Wonderful 70ts soul krh68
  14. The view from a not very experienced purchaser. I am fully aware of buyer beware. I try to do some homework where I can. I read the listing. If it says Original and states LABEL I expect and Original on correct LABEL. I have lobbied ebay hard for a selection in the 45s section along these lines - Original Release 100% Guaranteed Full Refund If Not - Believed Original Release, But Not Full Verified - 2nd Issue - Reissue / Press - Unknown [These categories weren't the ones and you can prob use / think of better ones] To force the seller to nail himself to the mast. That way there's no doubt whats being said. Any misrepresentation then = full refund or you know what your buying. Ebay didnt want to restrict sellers. More like restrict listings and income lol If I think some one is dishonest and the trust is broken I just wont deal with them ever again and I wont recommend them. Its got to be a short term option surely, with the power of the net................. PS These are more general comments as I haven't dealt with KOPS directly, certainly recently...........
  15. Doo-Rights Youre my Girl Double Shot 1.40
  16. I had a 45 sent from the States packaged inside a Jim Reeves Lp, cover and LP sent also...........45 tucked inside I dont know whether the seller thought he was doing me a favour sending the LP, but it increased his postage costs and was quiet bizarre...................... krh68
  17. Hi Arron John is indeed on this list and may be able to answer directly on the points you raise. I have used a couple of times and similar to you was uncertain on the procedure. Inclusion For speed, its probably best to email in a list of items you would like to have featured in the auction and JM will doubtless email back with advice as to which could or could not feature. You might want to offer those not featured for auction as "for sale" or not to save time also. I sent in Colts - Lady Lady (VG++) and two Motown Acetates - so I knew both would feature. The Motown Acetates were of lesser quality than Mint, but given their age and being unreleased, made them fair certain to feature. I would say rarity is obviously important (as ita a rare sale auction, not set stock sale), but have noticed on the sales site so is "unusualness". Pricing With regard pricing, I had no real idea. This is the point of JM service and what you pay your commission for - his vast market experience. I trusted in that and was guided by their prices and reserves. That worked just fine for me. Turnaround I didnt hear for a little while after the auction and was a bit unsure, but I know understand the Buyer has to pay, receive the 45 and be happy with it ie no returns etc, then JM can issue the paperwork and settle the amount due. So advice here is chill out lol all is in hand.................. Commission I think this may vary a bit ? dependant on what you sell ie rarity, quantity etc ; but is around 20% Hope that is helpful and JM will correct any errors in what I have said.................. In short, I would recommend and use again. krh68
  18. Thanks for all the info much appreciated Anyone have mp3 of Final Descisions they could wing my way please Thanks again
  19. Anyone know anyone who has one ? Can speak about ease of use and issues and sound quality etc ?
  20. Credit to the owner really as records are made to be played. I'd be nervous myself if it had that value, but maybe its insured against break ? I was making the point that some folk won't ever care to play it again, it would just be a display / talking point............. I think this is sadder than it being with a true fan who plays it for sure........

EBay used to allow BidPay and PayPal. BidPay was very popular. EBay then bought PayPal and assumed it into its processes. Whatch out for them buying an electronic snipe company. Until they do, the sniping companies will face a harder and harder time going forward.........just a hunch........
  22. Ian D Thanks for sharing all your views and experiences so openly with us. I wasn't around or there at the time and it provides a very good insight and helps maintain some of the scenes history I read for around 1 1/2 hrs striaght through. Riverting to someone who enjoyes learning about what went before............ Cheers krh68
  23. Real genuine guy, when asked about people covering songs so refreshing to heer he celebrated because it meant he had done his job and the songs could be heard for longer, with all the millions of songs out there. And also found it interesting he did write specifcally for people, rather than pick the artists after Good interview.................
  24. Can anyone tell me anything about the artist, the 45 value and any other discs by the artist please Thanks
  25. I agree entirely with this its either destined for a display case as a trophy for a non music lover or at the headquarters of Universal or in the collection of a Motown Artsist etc............
