  1. "i'm amazed someone hasn't done a tv documentary about record collectors, whether us or some other breed of nutjob" They have shown a documentary on Record Collecting here in Canada. I cant tell you what it was called or the guys name but you couldnt have picked a bigger load of nutters to focus on. They didnt seem to specialise like we do, but they all had rooms full of vinyl and to a man they were all just balancing nicely on the edge of insanity - great viewing. I have since met on of the guys who collects Country and has a warehouse full of the stuff and sells at all the local fairs.
  2. Isnt there a blue label original as well? I had the red re-issue.
  3. Because there are dicks out there that will pay it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Picked up a Canadian copy of Ghost In My House last week. Any body got a current price? B side has a red Promotion Copy stamp on it? Then I realised I have never seen a Canadian Motown promo before? Is this a promo? Probably not in vogue at the moment but dont think I have seen one of these for a long long time, if at all.
  5. I had a copy of the Choker Campbell 45 last year and didnt rate it all, I think it went for $5 on ebay, if that.
  6. Somebody on here was asking for the Polydor self titled album. I played it at the weekend and it is a great mix of 70's dancers and ballads - recommended.
  7. Not really in the mis-filed sections but I do have a little routine when I get to work, get a coffee, log in to ebay and do a "buy it now search" in the R&B section. I have picked up Beloyd - $24.99, Arthur Freeman - $30 and Willie Hutch - $25 in the last 12 - 18 months!!!, plus lots of nice cheapies.
  8. Oops, spot the deliberate mistake. Should be Tony Middleton - Paris Blues!!! Oh well that was a waste of time, only 2 responses and they never made an offer. Off to the "Bay"
  9. It was on there yesterday, I always do a search of the "buy it now" stuff when I get to work.
  10. Sorry, should have said that Steinways has writing on label - listed side. Kevin
  11. Somebody a week or so ago was talking about offering 45's on the Guild before putting them on Ebay. I intend putting these on tomorrow morning approx. 8:00 Canadian time ( 1:00 UK ) so best offers before then. All Canadian and come in company sleeves and are in vg+ condition. 16. Great reviews, up there with your reviews of the top 100 newies in your old mag.
  17. I have recently cashed in on the popularity of tracks like Jon Lucien, Marv Johnson, Merle Spears etc, stuff that I picked up but never really listen to. There are tracks that will never be sold no matter how high they go, Soul Communicators, Willie Hutch etc etc I personally think prices cant go much higher on some of the things that have found popularity recently but I have been wrong many times before.
  18. Recently I have purchased: Skinhead Jamboree - great Trojan comp, Cool Heat - Funk comp, Soul Spectrum Vol 2 - comp by Keb Darge and also bought Soul of New York from Goldmine? Also picked up Greatest Hits by Marvin Gaye, Temps, Four Tops and Clarence Carter from a flea market, all sealed for $3 each!!
  19. Not there. I am sure I had one in an old fanzine but dont really want to spend hours going through them, unless someone can remember who did it
  20. Can anybody point me to a full Ovide label listing? Thanks Kevin

  23. He sells non-soul stuff in Record Collector pretty regularly and usually has a contact number in there.
  24. Some time ago I bought this off ebay from a US guy who was selling a radio station 45 collection. Everything he was selling were white demos. I believe this was booted as a promo, what is the difference between the original and the boot? Also looking for current values for the following: Linda Lloyd - Breakaway - Can. Columbia Jerry Naylor - City Lights - Can. Sparton promo Dean Parrish - Paris Blues - Can. Polydor Steinways - You Been Leading Me On - Can. Sparton Thanks Kevin
  25. On the Sammy Gaha subject. I found a mint one in company sleeve for 50C at Hamilton record show, got it home, played it, thought that is shite and was about to sell it on in a pack to a UK guy who buys cheapies off me. For some reason I was browsing Manship and saw it in the 'rarest' and got 350 quid for it!!!!! I still think its shite!!!
