  8. I REMEMBER WHEN........ this record was absolutely massive. At St. Ives All-Dayers when this was played by the likes of Hammy, Nev Wherry etc, it was like an almighty stampede!!! The intro was awesome to hear and watch. I have a recording of Nev introducing it in one of his sets and the place literally erupting! Happy Days!
  9. Theresa, I've come across this problem before. Is the record in question listed in Manships or Tim Brown Price Guide? OR was the tranaction paid by paypal or via ebay? If so then the Royal Mail WILL pay up. They have no option.. Theresa, have you checked out Fedex or the other carriers. I only use Fedex now for expensive items abroad inbound and out. Almost as cheap and no hassle whatsoever with customs etc.

Why is it Benji? I can't get my head around your post, thought it a little hostile. I thought is was a fair observation? Its nice that our German brothers have a soul board in their native language, but fair to Mike, his team, and the comment posted, just a courteous nod to from Mike was suggested, thats all. Also, i think support from Mike and team and this forum to the new German site would be of great help and assistance, possible topic feeds etc. I have registered on the new board, even though I can't speak the language, hope a translator will work with it soon. Good luck with it. Regards, Andy

What is a Burnley record? A record that is synonomous with the Burnley Allnighter sound. The Burnley Allnighter was (is) an event in the north of England, that plays upfront Northern Soul. Upfront meaning undiscovered / underplayed / lesser known sounds. Whilst there are a number of great fresh events (Lifeline and Bidds for example) playing what could be regarded as a definite Upfront music policy as opposed to the more nostalgic (known oldie) sounds. Burnley stands out, as it does / did have a distinctive sound, being uptempo, gritty and often earthy music. It was the same as Stafford in a way in that Stafford had a fresh inventory of new/underplayed records (many of which had been aired at Wigan, Clifton Hall, Bedford etc) but then went onto embrace many beat ballad records, which then became synonomous with the 'Stafford Sound'. Other iconic venues that had a certain distinctive sound were Twisted Wheel, Mecca, Wigan and even the Dome in London. Now all that said, not everything at Burnley fell into this uptempo / down and dirty category, there was a mixture of mid-tempo and funky orientated stuff played, as well as known established rarities. I think Mike, framed the 'sound' phenomena nicely in his post above, in that there is a sound that is synonomous and resonates with the Burnley 'feel', regardless of whether the records had been originally played elsewhere before. Burnley most definately was a place where many 'newie' records were also played, in addition to underplayed or known things then taken to new heights of exposure and popularity on the wider rare soul scene. The problem with most of the newies, was that the were and still are covered-up. Whilst I had many cover-up plays, Cliff Camfield was notorious for covering up things, over half of his sets were cover-up records. Other Burnley DJs could give you their plays, but a few records that were popular there for me were... Royal Cinders - You Sure is Funky - HipTime Soul Dynamics - Heart Full of Soul - D&W Foreign Blue Renaissance - Finding You - Kohoutech The Devils - Love & Understanding - Cuca (JJ Watson - Sweet Love Cover-up) The Chanters - What Are You Doin - SSP (The Primers - Sometimes I Wonder Cover-up) Royal Imperials - This Heart of Mine - Mellow Town Soul Sounds Unlimited - Word of Love - June Extremes - I Need Your Love - 4J Sugar Boy - Freeman - Shades Cliffhangers - Since You've Gone Away - KCea Conner Cagle - Let Your Good Side Show - Sunshine I could go on and on, but all of these were most definitely either first played or at least elevated at Burnley, there were many many more. I hope this helps rather than confuse. Andy Killick

And your point is?? If you don't get the message in the post Dave, then the source of your "laughable" inclination and dare i say 'problem may just well sit within yourself. Your post strikes of those champions of political correctness. I live by open and honesty and freedom of speech. The day that becomes a dying breed, will be a sad one. Andy Killick
  21. Now this may be a daft question but, Mandingo Productions, Four Tracks. Well where are the other two tracks? One release, two tracks, are the other two tracks 'in the can' / unreleased??? Get my drift? Anyone know the full story behind Mandingo, I know there are suggestions that link it to Golden World, but where are the other two intended tracks????
  22. Dave, check out the the Parliaments "This is my Rainy Day" ...... A one, a two, a one, come on ........ This is my rainy day...... Killer!!!
