  1. sure because it can't get worse than the a-side
  2. ups, didn't read the comments.
  3. Does anybody recognize the other songs in the vid? I haven't played it through, skipped parts. Marion Sodd, Voicemasters, Black Stash. what else?
  4. Sorry, missed Sorry, was distracted for a minute and when I continued to type my reply I thought you were saying it might be a new production. Note to myself: pay more attention. I agree with you, it has that late 60s/early 70s sound beach sound.
  5. I'll never forget this quote from Derek Pearson about Mike & Ray - If only you knew. It's just as fitting for Margaret Little: "Vocally a bit iffy but what a backing"
  6. Really? It doesn't sound modern to me. At least not over laptop speakers. Not saying it's def not a modern days effort. It reminds me of stuff like Greater Experience or Soul Inc - Proposal. Especially the horns sound very much like Gary Knight - Holding on to me. If it was a modern production it's a very convincing for me.
  7. Sounds like a 60s blue eyed carolina beach sound to me.
  8. @Sebastian Would you mind sharing to which country it went once the auction is finished?
  9. Him to appear you would have to say his name thrice: levine, levine, ...
  10. If the record in the video wasn't played at the correct speed it's hard to tell who might have sung it. Based on the phrasing I think it could be Chuck Jackson Ben E. King
  11. Ok thanks. Speaking of cover ups, can you share a few more details about Diane Lewis? I understand it's an uncredited acetate. And along the mello souls a track which literally blew me away the first time heard it.
  12. Wow. I'd say it needs loads of guilt to like ten miles high 😉 I really like The Construction btw....
  13. @neckender King Bartels it's alright Was this Clarence Coulter by any chance?
  14. Search results say it wasn't mentioned yet, so how about Diane Lewis - You ain't got a chance?
  15. It’s probably the very first pressing. Single sided, solid center, early 90s. Had a blank label so obviously some owners tried to upgrade its appearance a bit. Coming to think of it, Dave McCadden reviewed it in Soul Galore and provided mock up UK TMG label for folks to copy and stick on the 45.
  16. Had another longer bike ride this morning, 2/3 or even more were fields, woods, dirt roads etc. Besides the dragonflies I mentioned before I also saw countless butterflies. Mentioned this thread to my wife the other day. She's command-in-chief of our yard and she told me that there are much more bees than last year. How I wish to say that insect wildlife is getting better in general....
  17. I agree, overe here (bavaria) much less wasps than in years before. Not that I mind though. On the other hand I've seen quite a number of dragonflies on my cycling trips. Don't think I'd seen so many in one season ever before.
  18. probably my alltime favourite Gene Chandler track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L-E-Xj0_t8 (oops, anyone know why there's no video preview?)
  19. I think It was mentioned in the sales blurb for one of the new releases that he‘s behind them or some of them. And speaking of Levanna: No idea how much she really was involved in them, but both compilations promoted under her name are excellent. Quality across the board choices. Hope they sell well.
  20. Another is „books at …“. Books where? Which book?
  21. I‘ve read somewhere that Dave Evison is behind some/most/all recent Northern Soul 45s on Charly. Is this correct?
  22. Copies are already out for some time now.
  23. I said "ordinary kitchen towels, e.g. cotton". Paper towels are just as bad. They also can leave tiny little bits of fibre residue in the grooves.
  24. I can't believe the *** that people write about cleaing records either 😉 Ordinary kitchen towels, e.g. cotton, can leave fibre residue in the grooves. Hot water can harm your vinyl. Use microfibre towels and warm water instead. I get pretty good results in cleaning vinyl and styrene from using a hand-operated record washing machine like Pro-Ject Spin. But setting it up makes sense only when you got more than a handful of records to clean. You can easily mix the cleaning fluid that comes with these machines yourself. 70% distilled water, 30% pure isopropanol and 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid. Pour a bit on your record, spread it evenly. Clean the record using a microfibre towel. put the record aside for a couple of minutes to let the cleaning fluid evaporate. Done.
  25. I bought both mid 90s after Derek Pearson recommended them in SoS. "Didnt know how to" was 15 quid, "Don't know about you" 25. Plenty of copies around. I sold for 75 and 100 in the early 2ks when I thought price had peaked due to the number of copies around. Not one of smartest decisions.
