  1. I seem to remember there's a mistake on the Capitols' album as well. It quotes "Let it all reach out" as unreleased whereas it was released as by "The Four Bros".
  2. I guess you refer to the styrene bootleg? I can confirm there's a vinyl bootleg. Looks very convincing until you play it. You can hear it was dubbed off a scratchy record.
  3. Well, I rarely buy from the US these days. But an LP I bought the other day took just 6 days from the States to Germany. Pretty quick IMO.
  4. Discogs say they're "unofficial releases" yet they're on iTunes. Figure that out. But I agree with Jason. Some great tunes.
  5. Pages a good contender. I started buying from UK lists in the very early 90s and I don't recall seeing this one listed as a pressing before the early internet days.
  6. I did at a local do. Velours I'm gonna change MGM demo. Was advertised as a bootleg. 8 Euros.
  7. Yeah, easy to spot if you know what to look out for. But if you don't then it's pretty easy to assume it's an original. Mind, Richard was talking about pre-internet days, i.e. no bootleg guide around. I guess most boots of Jerry Cook (or Alexander Patton) on Capitol were sold as originals. Another one I don't recall back then on lists as a bootleg is Joe Douglas on Playhouse.
  8. Which Roscoe Robinson? There are two releases on Gerri. And both look pretty legit to me.
  9. Not necessarily. E.g. Silhouettes on Goodway album/45, both US.
  10. Seeing that the french 7" of Garnet Mimms - As long as I have you (allegedly?) sold for 1.000 Euros while the album is readily available, I was wondering what's the biggest gap in value between album and 7" of a Northern soul track? Here's my top 3: Timi Yuro - It'll never be over - Liberty album vs UK Liberty 45 (album 20 quid or so, 45 a grand) Garnet Mimms - As long as I have you - UA album vs french UA 45 (album 30-ish, 45 1.000 euros) Silhouettes - Not me baby - Goodway 45 vs Goodway album (45 close to a grand, album 150-ish) Any additions?
  11. They should be tarred and feathered for what they've done to Deep Shadows. They literally killed one of my alltime favourites. First vid is nice though
  12. Mark, you're right. I probably thought of another record. Have edited my post.
  13. From what I remember there are two presses? One original and one a rather belated 2nd press?

Couldn't believe that so I tried it myself. Reported the Voodoo boot to Ebay. Works fine. No need to download or fax anything. Won't stop Ebay to do nothing about it though.
  15. Finally! Looking forward to it. Just joined FB just for it. Any chance to have separate chat sessions about John Manship auctions and overpriced pressings on Ebay? I'd surely miss both...

As I came across this the other day. I visited John in june 1995 to buy some records. I brought a blank C60 tape with me to ask him if he could record some of his favourites and mail the tape back to me. to my surprise he just handed over his dj box and told me to pick out any record I like and record it myself in his front room! Here's the outcome: little ann - lean lanky daddy - unissue ric tic ruby andrews - wonderful nite - zodiac stemmons express - woman love thief - karma al gardner - i'll get along - lu pine baby huey - just being carefull - usa september jones - i'm coming home - kapp september jones - no more love - kapp jimmy & entertainers - new girl - toddlin' town metros - I'll never forget you - rca (LP) holly maxwell - only when you're loney - constellation seminoes - cheating heart - bell acetate monique - i wouldn't believe - maurci m.b.'s - another day - b-jet natural four - hangint on to a lie - boola boola archie bell - a 1000 wonders - spanish atlantic reggie soul - my world of ecstasy - capri bobby williams - only got myself to blame - sureshot ascots - anytime - mir a don ascots - another day - mir a don tommy dodson - one day love - uptown showmen - a little bit of your love - joker 3 del chontays - baby i need you - steeltown tony amaro - running around - loma rocky gil - it's not the end - tear drop otis lee - hard row to hoe - quaint
  19. PS: if you like Carla you sure like Chuck as well (if you don't know it already). What a record!
  20. I sort of agree. They should have released it. But not this version. It definitely sounds like a sparse demo take. Of course that's part of its charm. But I guess the buying public in the 60s wouldn't have liked it like that.
  21. Oldies scene or upfront?
  22. My copy is stereo and more like VG-. Doesn't sound that good. Are there mono copies as well?
  23. I just had a look in the record room, no result * I'm afraid it looks like they're stored away at my parent's. Will take some time till I get my hands on that stuff. But from what I recall, inlay of vol1 was green, vol2 was light brown. * but what i found was a tape I did from John Powney's DJ box back in 1995. will post a track list in the John Powney thread.
