Just flogged one this week! Best version as well
-
60's Dances
I imagine Bobby Banas might disagree!
-
Clydie King R I P
RIP Clydie - can't remember a bad record from her, and a fit-looking bird as well.

Celebrities Who Are Or Have Been Into Northern Soul
Saw Kevin Rowland in the Cats a few times - he looked a miserable git back then!
-
LOU JOHNSON EP
I'm sure Unsatisfied wasn't on the London original was it?

Poll: Version Battle - These Things Will Keep
Absolutely no contest!

So where are all these records being found?
I travelled all along the California coastline two years ago and visited loads of thrift stores - some of them were previously big department stores but i never found a bloody thing!
-
Top 5 This Weekend
Definately not the Bob Meyer version!

Record frames
Popped into my local Poundland yesterday and found a massive pile of 12" record frames in there! Simple black frame and real glass, not crappy perspex. I only bought one to see if it actually fitted properly but wished I'd bought more. Put Earl Van Dykes That Motown Sound in there - looks great!

Paul Bennett....Very sad news
R.I.P. Paul - a smashing bloke, and a good mate - Paul K

How much did JM get for TMG555 demo?
He'd probably have liked it if Wigan's Ovation covered it on TOTPs!!!!

Recommend a soulful party band? Midlands
The Soul Survivors are a good bet - Wolvo based (I think!) and travel all over. Guaranteed good time - they've been going for 20-odd years and will tailor the show to suit.

Images From A Misspent Youth
Great stuff mate - must try and find out all my old membership cards - know where my Catacombs card is - i seen it the other day, all held together with sellotape! Thought the Top Rank at Hanley was very underrated at the time.
-
Last night of the Catacombs - Live sounds and interviews
Brilliant article - memories ay! Nobody's mentioned the Sunday afternoon sessions have they? In the pubs in Wolvo beforehand, the Cats, then off to the Royal Hotel in Walsall. Remember standing with about 20 others on the fire escape trying to get a breather from the intense heat on the dance floor (stage).

What's your favourite Motown Song?
Gotta agree mate! One of the best Ruffin vocals and only a bloody B-side as well!!
-
Marvin Gaye
Great record - but an odd choice for a B-side wasn't it. Surely in 1969 when the A-side came out there was material specifically recorded to complete the single package?
-
Billy Butler
Wishing you a speedy recovery Billy - The Right Track was one of my first buys - a long, long, long time ago, and it still sounds as good as ever!
-
The Wonder Of Woolies
Had loads from Woolies - all UK Motown - Isley Brothers, Monitors, Bobby Taylor, Marvelettes, to name but a few.
-
Sax Solos That Give You Chills (With Clips)
Superb record - think I might use that as well!!
-
What Record Would You Use To Explain Or Exemplify Northern Soul
Several spring to mind to epitomise Northern Soul - rareness shouldn't come into it at all - its all about the beat and danceability! Mine would have to be - Invitations - What's Wrong With Me Baby, Fascinations - Girls . . ., Bobby Sheen's Doctor Love and I really like Pete's suggestion of Jimmie Raye's Philly Dog Around The World - an absolute bloody powerhouse of a record!
-
Imagine If It Hadn't Made The Charts
Can't imagine there's a better example - an absolutely superb record!
-
Cyber Catacombs, Wolverhampton
People piling out of the fire escapes I read somewhere. People were always on the fire escape - right behind the dancefloor - it got so hot in there on a Saturday night!
-
Creativity Without Truth Is Nothing
If the Shredded Wheat advert upset you and you're not convinced that the Northern Soul film was made out of love and dedication then you must have burst a fuckin bloodvessel seeing Wigans Ovation on Top of the Pops - now that was cringeworthy!!

"the Beat!" Tv Show - Full Episodes On Youtube
