  1. That preeety good mate! I wish I'd been there.
  2. Just flogged one this week! Best version as well

I imagine Bobby Banas might disagree!
  4. RIP Clydie - can't remember a bad record from her, and a fit-looking bird as well.
  5. Saw Kevin Rowland in the Cats a few times - he looked a miserable git back then!

I'm sure Unsatisfied wasn't on the London original was it?
  7. I travelled all along the California coastline two years ago and visited loads of thrift stores - some of them were previously big department stores but i never found a bloody thing!
  8. Definately not the Bob Meyer version!

Popped into my local Poundland yesterday and found a massive pile of 12" record frames in there! Simple black frame and real glass, not crappy perspex. I only bought one to see if it actually fitted properly but wished I'd bought more. Put Earl Van Dykes That Motown Sound in there - looks great!
  10. R.I.P. Paul - a smashing bloke, and a good mate - Paul K
  11. He'd probably have liked it if Wigan's Ovation covered it on TOTPs!!!!
  12. The Soul Survivors are a good bet - Wolvo based (I think!) and travel all over. Guaranteed good time - they've been going for 20-odd years and will tailor the show to suit.
  13. The unreleased Motown girls cd sounds very good, judging from the soundclips on the Ace site.
  14. Best of luck with the club Maryam. Don't be put off by all the negative comments - I'm sure they mean well! If they're worried about the BBC putting a different spin on things how did they all feel when the BBC put Wigans Ovation on TOTPs, making complete twazzacks of us all!
  15. Great stuff mate - must try and find out all my old membership cards - know where my Catacombs card is - i seen it the other day, all held together with sellotape! Thought the Top Rank at Hanley was very underrated at the time.
  16. Brilliant article - memories ay! Nobody's mentioned the Sunday afternoon sessions have they? In the pubs in Wolvo beforehand, the Cats, then off to the Royal Hotel in Walsall. Remember standing with about 20 others on the fire escape trying to get a breather from the intense heat on the dance floor (stage).
  17. Gotta agree mate! One of the best Ruffin vocals and only a bloody B-side as well!!

Great record - but an odd choice for a B-side wasn't it. Surely in 1969 when the A-side came out there was material specifically recorded to complete the single package?

Wishing you a speedy recovery Billy - The Right Track was one of my first buys - a long, long, long time ago, and it still sounds as good as ever!
  23. Had loads from Woolies - all UK Motown - Isley Brothers, Monitors, Bobby Taylor, Marvelettes, to name but a few.
  24. Superb record - think I might use that as well!!
