  1. in terms of house, certainly one of the most influential and sampled artists
  2. saw him absolutely stuff up a mix, cutting between two copies of mfsb on the show, kinda embarrassing really as its his signature mix.
  3. Muck fe mace, the how very restrained you are, and you hit the mother load, you jammy bad tart.
  4. always wondered why they had so many sub labels, without any real distinction between styles or genre
  5. do you think they focussed on 'that motown sound' at the expense of individual artist development Dave?
  6. hardcore dave, I'd have more respect for some of the young guns if they were doing it more, that said there are a small band of them that are always up and out. that national express from London to Blackburn, was a long one, it used to stop at every small town in lancs.
  7. sad to see probably the rarest items on the list, the mags, go for so little, a real piece of British soul history.
  8. Sam Cooke is often cited as the first soul singer, the impressions were also a fundamental influence on the transition of r and b into soul. Imho the first soul records are from 64/65. But this subject is a thread in itself!
  9. soulfulness wise it has to be 70's, just listen to the output of Philly int compared to Motown, far more soulful imho. Also you have a whole decade to go at, whereas the 60's didn't get soul until halfway through the decade and although I like loads of R and B, most it aint soulful, bluesful maybe but not soulful.

What's its true value? Is it really rare? Opinion on a postcard please!
